Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'
Call me old fashioned, but I love a medium-rare burger with a piece of cheddar. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, red onion, and pickle. On, a toasted sesame seed bun.
Nothing beats making your own ground beef though. That's what sets it apart!
What is Chinese Brown Sauce Made Of?
I usually do 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup chicken broth, a couple cloves on minced garlic, and 2 tsp or so of arrowroot or cornstarch.

Lemons. The culinary world would be so much blander without them!

The Tornado Potato Touches Down in the U.S.
I saw this at our local barbeque fair (Pork in the Park - Salisbury, MD) a couple of months ago. I'm shocked that they had something here in the boonies that you guys hadn't seen yet! I'm pretty sure it's just a bbq-circuit though, so they probably picked it up somewhere else...

Coconut, baby! Gotta have buttercream frosting though - not a huge fan of 7 Minute.

Best. Shirt. Ever.
Simple syrup is a must, as the granulated can tend to leave a grain. Plenty of fresh lemon juice and zest curls, sparkling water, and fresh mint sprigs. All over a tall glass with plenty of ice. Delicious!

Hey Golato, you know an awful lot about this store. I'm confused. You said in your first post that you were not able to find the Tornado Fries store. Now you claim to have "insider" information about what goes on in the back room. Are you lying now, or were you lying then?

LOU are you kidding me, would we have this thread up on the website if I was still involved with Tornado, absolutely not. Just simply click on the link above and magically it takes you away from your site and too a small competitors site, I thought you and Richard were a little smarter than that.

I guess the big store criticalone is referring to above is the same Tornado Fries store that doesn't have a sign because they didn't follow city zoning requirements, wheres that big sign you mentioned. Word has it they are also using an illegal fryer with no fire suppression system to make there horrible deep fryed candy bars, located in the back room. One other note, they may loose there Trademark status because of lack of enforcement by other companies, log onto patent trademark office website and read all about it.

Chipstix was the shop in the arcade that I tried after Tornado Fries. It was NOT good. Looks like the post on July 19 from Golato was posted by the owner of the Chipstix shop. Lets look at this... It was posted just 34 minutes after the post by the obvious stor owner "Chipstix". Very unusual spelling of the owners first name. I bet 9 out of 10 people wouldn't guess that was how you spell it.
Couldn't find Tornado Fries? It's the big store with the huge sign right in the middle of the boardwalk. It's much easier to find the chipstix store in the corner of an arcade. Did you trip over the Holy Grail or Jimmy Hoffa's body on your way to the chipstix store?
Once again... The people working in the chipstix store are very ignorant. Especially the "Little Person" (I have nothing against "little people", but this guy takes the cake) who runs around like he owned the place.
C'mon buddy, promote your "little" store somewhere else.

The original Korean product is called "Twist Potato". Their website is http://www.potatotwist.com.

Hello all, I was able to check out this snack but couldn't find tornado fries. I tried chipstix, it was across from Morey's Piers and they had a flavor called pizza and it was awesome. I also got a fresh squeezed lemonade that was to die for.
The girl working there was named Iryna and she said shes the owner. She was very nice and helpful. There was a NBC 10 news interview playing from Memorial Day weekend that featured the world famous chipstix.

Tornado Fries accually came from a business started 9 years by Gary Barnes who now resides in the UK. He invented the original spiral cut potato blade and started a company called CHIPSTIX, a fried potato with a twist. It started in South Africa not Korea. The Tornado Fries company is trying to take credit for this creation but have merely copied and tried to brand themselves as The Original.
The true original is CHIPSTIX and yes you have seen them in Ocean City, NJ at the French Fry Factory. They are also located in North Wildwood at the famous Gateway 26 Arcade and in Wildwood at Lime Ricky Arcade. CHIPSTIX also offers there potent mixture of fresh squeezed lemonade.

What is Chinese Brown Sauce Made Of?
I just made my own version based off of Claypot's version, and it turned out really well!!
1/2 cup Kikkoman soy sauce
1 1/2 cup vegetable broth
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp garlic salt
2 tbps (rounded) flour
I just heated up the broth and soy sauce, added everything except for the flour, and then slowly added the flour bit by bit while whisking quickly and kept whisking till it thickened. Even my (picky) husband liked it!!! Now I'm gonna put it on my veggie and seafood stir-fry :D

I'm so trying this tonight!! Thank you all you guys!
What is Chinese Brown Sauce Made Of?
All of these recipes sound so professional! I'm not sure if the $5 special uses anything exotic, though. Soy sauce, cornstarch, some kind of oil, and definitely garlic.
There was a place that I used to eat at on 7th Avenue and 30-something Street in NYC (they've since closed). Their brown sauce was the most addictive. I used to buy some on Friday nights to take home and eat on Saturday.
Their brown sauce probably had a Herculean amount of MSG in it. Whenever you ate there your heartbeat would race, you'd be agitated easily, and your energy level would increase. I ate there for a month straight one time and had to withdraw myself slowly.

What is Chinese Brown Sauce Made Of?
Hi Grace - thanks for linking to me. I checked out the other recipes, and will tell you that beef broth is definitely not in the typical Chinese brown sauce because Chinese restaurants don't usually have beef broth. What they might use is chicken broth or stock. Other than that, it's pretty much soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, starch, some sesame oil, some white pepper, and Chinese rice wine depending on the dish. Dark soy sauce might be added too if you want color. Do check out my recipe and see if you like it. :)

Once I had the oppurtunity to obtain some fresh road kill.Cant say what kind it was for fear of offending dog lovers, but i cleaned the meat up,removed any obvious road debris, boned it out.Ground it up with a coarse blade, mixed some fine pig fat in with it for moistness and flavor, then proceeded to make the worlds best onion burger,on a toasted sesame seed bun with pickles an special sauce. MMMMM

My nephew made up a burger that he calls a Squeezal Burger. I know it is not "good" for you. It is delishous. I don't know exactly what is in it. I know I saw him grinding the beef with a pound of bacon and adding loads of spices. I know that one of his secret ingredients is morel mushrooms dried and then ground into a powder. This is a tough one! There have been many "best " burgers but they would always have to have been juicy rare with oozing cheese, S+P, sauteed onions, and friends around the table laughing and having a great time.

medium-rare beef burger, tomato, blue cheese, bacon. Maybe some onion too.
