Red Hook, Brooklyn Eats

I've only been to the Good Fork in Red Hook for dinner, and it was good, but check out whether they serve lunch. For a cheap casual lunch, you can go to Fairway and get nice sandwiches and eat them outside with a view of the Statue of Liberty if it's a nice day. When you're at LeNell's make sure you get Hudson Baby Bourbon - it is made at a small place in upstate New York with 100% NY State corn and it's one of my favorite bourbons!

Angelo's Pizza, Midtown

I love Angelo's, I don't care what you say. They also have a location with a nicer dining room (or so I hear bc I've never been to the 57th location) at Broadway and 53rd, near the David Letterman Show.

New Kids on the Block

When I was little my mom raised goats, and every spring, new kids would be born and we'd get to enjoy fresh goat milk and cheese. Mmmm. I didn't know how lucky I was.

Dinner Tonight: Asian-Flavored Roasted Cabbage

That sounds like a great idea, especially because I've been trying to think of something new to do with cabbage besides braising, since cabbage is one of the few vegetables still in season. I'll try it next time I get my hands on some cabbage. Thanks!

Spring-Inspired Ice Cream Sauces: Raspberry Sauce

um the fruit stands have been at the corner outside of my office all through winter. of course they are here year round, because it looks like all of their fruit is shipped in from thousands of miles away, and that's why i never bother with fruit stands.

Dinner Tonight: Kale, Onion and Cheddar Frittata

i keep meaning to make a frittata as a way to use up kale and then keep forgetting. thanks for the reminder! i think sausage would also be a good addition.

Kale: The Leafy Green Monster

I made hummus with kale the other day - a can of chickpeas, a couple cloves of garlic, a couple spoonfuls of tahini, lots of salt, and a few leaves of kale all thrown in the food processor - and voila. It tasted surprisingly great.

I also like kale in colcannon as mentioned above.

The best kale dish I've ever had is at Diner in Williamsburg - a salad of warm chiffonades of kale, a scattering of bacon and breadcrumbs, and a poached egg on top. I would love to try it at home but haven't yet figured out how they got the kale warm and slightly wilted without losing its texture for a salad.

Oysters are ideal, but I'll settle for almost anything: last time it was antipasti, next time it could be grilled fish -- who knows? It's a not-too-decadent indulgence to break out a bottle of something with bubbles for no good reason every now and then...the world needs more bubbles!

Oh no, Baked is bad. Not only are their products mediocre and overpriced, but the service is downright rude.

The lobster roll at Fairway is one of the best deals in town, in my opinion. And if its a nice day you can sit out by the water.

Otherwise I'd say The Good Fork, but they are only open for dinner.
I do not recommend Hope and Anchor if you are actually into food. Nothing wrong with the place, it's just eh. Though it would be a fine place for a beer before you trek home.

Save room for something from Baked! They have really creative (but still tasty) cake flavors.
