Cook the Book: 'The Pioneer Woman Cooks'
I read dozens of food blogs every day and have to say that Serious Eats is one of my favorites. PWC is on the list as well, along with a bunch of local (Baltimore) blogs. It's all good, all informative, all entertaining.
Do You Have a Favorite Greek Yogurt?
I prefer Fage. Oikos and Chobani taste like chalk.
Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'
I'm fickle - I don't think I have an absolute favorite burger. I like 'em with onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard (fast food stylie), but I also like 'em with chipotle mayo, green chile sauce, bacon, etc. There was a restaurant in Baltimore that served burgers with bacon and Boursin cheese - man, those were delish!

Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
No dressing has to be soggy - there's no law saying you have to use as much liquid as called for on the package. That's why I like to make my stuffing from scratch - sautée whatever veg I want to use, add bread, and then drizzle stock on while stirring until I get the perfect consistency. This works with either dried or fresh bread.

'Top Chef Masters' Host Kelly Choi: 'Food Bloggers Are Mean'
I am a food blogger and I think my reviews are largely positive. If I have a bad meal, it has to be truly bad before I say anything to the effect. And when I do, it's to alert other diners of potential issues, not merely to badmouth.
Kelly shouldn't give us a bad name. After all, I blog on AllTopChef (http://alltopchef.blogspot.com) and will be doing my best to promote her new show. Maybe not her so much now....
Cook the Book: 'Modern Spice'
I'd love to learn to cook anything Asian. I dabble with flavors but would really like to learn authentic Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian.
Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'
I have many many fond food memories. We lived with my grandmother, and she made some pretty incredible - but simple - food. My favorite was her barszcz (Polish borscht), bright fuchsia and chock-full of tender nuggets of pork. And I always was happy to smell the onion-smothered kotlety (pork hamburgers) fragrance wafting upstairs to our third-floor apartment. Oh so many more...and my Dad's attempts at making Chinese food were pretty memorable as well....
Cook the Book: ''Wichcraft'
How about a NY-style po' boy with roast brisket and provolone :)
Restaurant recommendation for Wilmington/Newark, Delaware?
Definitely try Cajun Kate's in the Booth's Corner Farmer's Market in Boothwyn, PA, mere minutes from Wilmington. It's a small stand, but they have the most fabulous gumbo and po boys! Here's the site: http://cajunkates.com/
I'm hitting the place myself next weekend!
The Next Food Network Star - are we watching?
I only watch it for the comedy aspects of it. And so I can recap it for my food blog: http://minxeats.blogspot.com/2008/06/next-food-network-tool-star.html
See's Chocolates: Have You See-n the Light?
I love See's! Even their cream-filled candies are delicious! And when compared to the ridiculously over-priced Godiva, they are miraculous.
For Christmas: Are We Talkin' Turkey Or Cookin' a Goose?
I'd go for the goose, but then I'm not a turkey lover. One year I made roast duck. Last year we had short ribs. This year it's spaghetti carbonara. We like to mix things up in our house - no such thing as a Christmas favorite!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Bacon of the Month Club
I like bacon chewy, with crisp edges. Hard bacon is a no-no!
Help! I Flunked the AOL Regional Barbecue Test
I know next to nothing about bbq regionalism and I got 6 out of 10. I suppose I read too much. :)
Cook the Book: 'Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant'
When I eat alone, which is seldom, I usually go for vegetables, particularly ones my husband won't eat: eggplant, summer squash. Sometimes I do a saute of onions and summer squash into which I scramble a couple of eggs, or even more simply, I'll have a tomato sandwich with thickly sliced tomato and Japanese mayo on good supermarket bread. Yum!
Grom Gelato: The New Drug
Wow - I think gelato is cheaper at the Venetian in Vegas (although probably not as tasty). Isn't amazing how grapefruit gelato can taste so darn good, and so true to the fruit? I had it for the first time at Gelatiamo, in Seattle. Best gelato I've ever had....but I haven't been to Grom.
Cookbook Giveaway: 'Super Natural Cooking'
Blackberries, fresh ripe summer tomatoes, mangoes, and naval oranges are my favorite healthful and pleasurable foods.
Chain-Letter Chef
I've participated in one of these that scored me a total of 0 recipes.
SweetLeaf Stevia. The next new thing?
The stevia I've tasted in the past has a bitter, licorice-like flavor. It's not merely sweet, like sugar and artificial sweeteners. I didn't like the taste, but I'd try it again if that flavor were somehow removed.
Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
My mom always uses white bread NOT TOASTED in her stuffing/dressing.
She adds sausage,celery,onion,1 small can evaporated milk, egg, butter S&P
poultry seas, and stock until moist NOT soggy. Is it better to use toasted bread? ...
Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
I've never had boxed stuffing. Only ever made from scratch. It's so damned easy to make, I doubt I'll ever have the boxxed stuff.
Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
Has anyone ever had Bell's Stuffing? (Also available in New England Style.) I saw them both at Hannaford tonight. (Hannaford is based in Maine, so they have a lot of random New England goodies, like Bakewell Cream.)
Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
If it is cooked, basted well, and has ground spicy sausage and crunchy bits in it, then it is good stuffing. There is no bad stuffing, only stuffing not as good as you'd hoped.
Taste Test: Store-Bought Stuffing
For years I used the Pepperidge Farm bagged stuffing as the base (it was herb, it was crouton style, it was cornbread), with my mushroom, celery, onion and sausage and a little chicken stock overall. It tasted pretty damn good. Then in some fancy foodie magazine or newspaper article I read about packaged stuffings not cutting it!
For the last few years I have used cubed bread stuffing that you buy in the supermarket which is fresh bread cubed. Works all right except you need a ton more stuff.
So blessings upon you all for making me feel better about going back to Pepperidge Farm again maybe this year.
Do You Have a Favorite Greek Yogurt?
Cabot's Plain Greek Style Yogurt is absolutely wonderful! The price is right, too....much less expensive that Fage. Trader Joe's brand yogurt is also very good....especially the Honey flavoured. I like plain yogurt with a dollop of lemon curd....YUMMY!
Fage is fine but way too expensive.....rather make it myself than pay that amount. Oixos and Chobani, not so much.
