Served: Cheeses That Will Make Your Heart Sing

At the risk of making this seem like a Cypress Grove sponsored thread, I really like their Humboldt Fog.

KNOXVILLE TN...I'M COMIN, TO YOUR CITY!

Check out local newspaper The Metropulse's reader voted lists for top restaurants and services in the area. Perennial favorites are places like Litton's, Ye Olde Steakhouse, Tomato Head, and Sunspot. In addition to the places mentioned in posts above I'd like to add Chandler's which is an amazing meat and three, Bayou Bay which is a great cajun place, and Chez Liberty and Rouxbarbs which are sort of upscale southern fusion places. If you're looking for amazing beer selections (including up and coming local favorite Marble City Brewery) and a laid back atmosphere definitely check out the Bearden Beer Market.

How Do You Split the Restaurant Tab with a Big Group?

I'm from the South where separate checks are pretty much the rule of thumb. Most waiters just ask how the check will be divided when they take your order. It's a mystery to me why this simple and fair practice hasn't caught on elsewhere.

What's Your Favorite Gas Station Convenience Store for Snacks?

The franchise Shell station next to the college bars in Knoxville sells a sandwich called a rooster that is a fried chicken breast smothered in hot sauce and topped with lettuce, tomato, and a fried egg. It really hits the spot at 3am.

What Are Your Essential Whiskies to Have Around?

Celebratory: Isle of Jura or Craganmore
Guest: the same
Other Guest: beer
Table: I usually can't keep from drinking the celebratories if I have them around, but given their expense I'm more likely to be found sipping on some version of Bushmill's (Black Bush if they've got it) or Jack Daniel's.

Culinary Ambassadors: Street Food in England, Fish and Chips

I spent last summer studying abroad in Cambridge. My favorite street food was the City Kabob on Regent St. near Downing College. It has the benefit of being one of the few places in the town open after midnight. And a lamb donner with greasy fries goes a long way toward sucking up booze in your stomach.

Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Regional Sandwiches?

I have lived in Knoxville my entire life and I've never heard this about steamed sandwiches being our specialty. The only place I can think of that steams sandwiches off the top of my head is Firehouse Subs, a chain sub shop.

Taste Test: Walkers Potato Chips New American Cheeseburger Flavor

I recently did a semester abroad in the UK and loved the different chip flavors. I think builder's breakfast was the most unusual. They managed to somehow taste like sausage, eggs, and hp sauce with each bite. I wish Lay's would introduce some of them in the US. Some like red onion with balsamic vinaigrette or prawn cocktail would probably do quite well.
