Valentine's Day Chocolate Giveaway
Dark, super-killah dark.
Dark, dark, dark. I'll eat Dove when in a sugar-crisis at work, but Lindt 85% is a good inexpensive choice for home 'use'.
Aw, crikey, dudes... That cat's not hungry, he thinks its a litter box!
Mmm, chocolate litter....
Paying $20 for several ounces of fish is easy - just go out for sushi.
As much as I adore my sashimi fix, it does grate on me from time to time the insane markup granted to purveyors of high-quality protein that is simply not cooked.
The standard "cost x3" equation seems to get no traction when dealing with something held in as high esteem in our country as the sushi experience. Sigh.
I finally had Kopp's when home for a class reunion and MAN was it tasty.... so rich and soft, basically like a fully loaded gelato.

Oh, the glory of the Bobcat.
Not only do I get to indulge in this wonder of ground cow flesh on a fairly regular basis, and take pictures:
Juicy Bobcat, but I write this comment whilst sipping my go-juice from a mug that will never let me forget that it's always time for a burger...

Next time you are in the Southwest - make a point to get there. You will wait awhile, but you will not leave unhappy.
HD, HD, HD.... the whole spectrum from Rum Raisin to Vanilla Bean to "extra rich light" Dulce de Leche. Personal favorite is the discontinued Chocolate Turtle: chocolate with caramel and SALTY pecans. Damn that was good.
Now, i've heard that the B&J pistachio kicks butt for its whole and enormous pistachios, but I've yet to try it. And like the Cherry Garcia guy above, I think nothing on earth can compare to Chunky Monkey when it comes to a really brilliant combination.
Which leads me to HD's Black Walnut.... mmm. And then that leads me back to B&J's Oatmeal Cookie - a wonderful "junk" flavor.
And finally I finish up with B&J's recent (and discontinued?) most brillant flavor, simply because it was CHUNKLESS: Black & Tan. Boy, that was good - chocolate, malt, and stout ice creams with no other crap added. Anyone try that flavor and agree?
To choose one over the other for ever and ever, I'd still lose my bananas and go with Haagen Dazs.
Of course CFS is still consumed.... Just check out the quality photo to go with this review ( posted just last week) of a local haven for all things dineresque, including chicken fried steak:

Celery goes VERY well with walnuts, which was the inspiration for my celery-walnut soup:

Enjoy!
Excellent profile/interview. Thank you! I have put Sushi Mike on my "must do" list when I next visit Chicago....
I make the best burgers I ever eat. As for the other two best in the world, I say that it is impossible to judge.
I work in a restaurant in a small town in Texas, Greek Bros. I have to say the flat Mushroom Jack Burger or the Cheddar Bacon Cheddar Burger there are among the best I have ever eaten. The burgers are 1/2 pound of meat, each, and the meat is from a local meat market. They cost $10 each, a plain cheeseburger is $7.00. I doubt any "burger crtio" is going to ever come to a town of 12,000 people in south Texas, so all I can say is that I agree that they can't claim that their picks are the best in the USA.
Whataburger (the Texas chain)
I love hamburgers and never miss a chance to try a new one and never had a hamburger I didn't like. I read about hamburgers from all over the world.
But I never enjoy any hamburger at any price as much as a Whataburger. If I eat a Whataburger and nothing else I don't care if I eat another thing the rest of the day.
The Black Angus burger at Stoudt's brewpub in Adamstown PA is sublime. It's all about the bakery fresh roll baked on-premise
We have a winner!
And it's ... CEFORRESTER. Someone from Serious Eats will be contacting you shortly for shipping info.
Thanks to everyone who commented, and tune in again later today for the last of our Valentine's chocolate giveaways.
Baked! I like my chocolate baked. I'll take it any way you want to give it to me, unless raisins are involved.
Dark, dark, dark -- I love chocolate semi-sweet and EARTHY! Yum!
