The Chinese-Norwegian restaurant was originally Fredheim's (or maybe no "i" - Fredhjem? as in home? - not quite sure)- going back to the 1930's at least. My Mom waitressed there and met my Dad there - a Swede. I ate there a number of times growing up in the 50's & 60's and went back in the 80's with my elderly Mom when it was both - the previous Norwegian proprieter taught the Chinese cooks how to do panakakke, kompa, all the rest - and they did it superbly. Sorry to hear it is gone.

Making Ktipiti from Greek Groceries at the International Grocery

Baklava is my favorite. And theirs looks great. Will definitely check it out next time I'm in the city.

It's WHERE?!?!?!?! Heavens when I visit I must check it out. I love baklava too. A meet and greet cat - heaven indeed.

I'm with tdiddy too - that cat obviously samples the merchandise far too often. Thanks for a spotlight on another of NYC's gems.

What better than a spicy hot dip on a cold winter day, even if I can't pronounce it....Feta in all forms is a gift from the Greek gods. Thanks for a new way to enjoy it. Love your pictures!

Loved the article! I'm really enjoying BaHa's unique perspective of the NY food scene. Keep up the great work!
