Food Suggestions for Election Night

I made arugula carbonara, in honor of Obama. I just posted the recipe on my blog, if you're interested.

Low Calorie Granola?

cybercita - you're right that agave nectar and honey have (roughly) the same number of calories. However, many people find that low glycemic products (like agave nectar) don't result in hunger spikes, and so help them keep their overall calorie intake down. YMMV, of course.

Low Calorie Granola?

I just posted a sugar-free granola recipe on my site, if you're interested. It uses agave nectar and powdered fructose in place of the sugar.

BF and I walked to our polling place together to do our civic duty, and then stopped at the Italian import place across the street for delicious subs. We voted together for the president, but went our separate ways on sandwich fillings.

I vote for (or against, really) Baked Alaska and White Russians, among other things.

I love all the usual suspects too (Orangette, Wednesday Chef, Smitten Kitchen, Endless Simmer) and here's a few more: Homesick Texan, Simply Breakfast, the Kitchn, and Evil Chef Mom.

And a humble plug for my own blog, Dinner Party: http://adinnerparty.blogspot.com

Thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions. I will try most of them and will definitely check out Bare Naked Granola!

Low Calorie Granola?

but agave nectar has the same calories as honey, so it's not low calorie, just low glycemic.

i make my own granola and i am here to tell you that it is not necessary to use a single drop of oil in it. just toast it really brown, use a mix of flakes {l like barley, kamut, and spelt in addition to oats} turning it every 15 minutes, and it will be plenty tasty. i use grade b maple syrup since it's stronger tasting. {if you use coconut flakes, add them halfway through, or they'll get incinerated. ask me how i know.}

also, after it's cooled, i mix in a lot of freeze dried mango and raspberries, which add tons of crunch, volume and flavor, but very few calories. {but i wouldn't mix freeze dried with regular dried fruit, or it will turn soggy and nasty.}
