The Ultimate Carrot Cake
I'm craving carrot cake. They all sound wonderfully delicious. Can I have a slice?

I instantly thought of spinach sauteed in olive oil with fresh garlic and a touch of crushed red pepper flakes.
I love cornbread and I may have to give these a try. I made a boxed carrot cake the other day and used egg whites and a can of pumpkin (15oz) and added some raisins. Chocolate chips would have been great too, never thought of that. It was delicious and my 7 yr old daughter loved it. She had it for breakfast every morning until it was gone.
Hey, I can't believe that no onw mentioned some of my all time favs of Philly. I lived there for nearly 20 yrs. and now live in Boyce, VA. I know you don't know where that is. I'm above northern Va and the foods well, not too good.
These are some places that I believe need mentioned; Macaroni's (I'm not talking about Macaroni Grill), in northeast Philly on Old Bustleton Ave. Geart food, small and intement. I'm also a BIG fan of Estia on Broad St. near The Academy of Music. Great fresh fish and the grilled octopus is to die for. The service is perfect. Boy do I miss that place. And my final one is the best crabs and crab fies ever, Chickies and Petes. Orginal location on Robbins Ave. and other newer one (well not so much anymore), Roosevelt Blvd. in the northeast. You can also taste this delcious food at The Link, and Citzens Bank Park. Don't worry all you non seafood lovers there some really good sandwiches there too as well as all types of bar food. Oh, I forgot the mussles in red, you gotta try those and be sure to ask for extra bread to soak up all that yummy red sauce.
Now go give these few a try and tell me if I'm wrong. Oh, and please eat something good for me, I'm starving.
I can't wait to try this one. I hope I can find Thai basil and if not can you use regular basil?
What would you all drink with this?
Breakfast for me means EGGS, and more eggs. I love them any way I can get them. I eat then almost everyday of the week. You have to try warm hardboild with some margerine or butter if you're not watching your calories, spread on them with a side of cottage cheese. Very yummy. But, like I said I love eggs.
I almost never eat waffles, pancakes or french toast but I do like them but they are too high in calories for me.
I must have coffee too, MUST!
I like rasins, berries and bananas on hot and cold cereals. I use sugar free syrup on my oatmeal and its delicious. Oh, peached in season are great in both too.
Regarding the yogurt; I love to put Kashi Go Lean Crunchies on mine or mix them together in a bowl and add fresh berries.
Some tips for the carrots;
Don't grate them in a food processor. They come out too heavy. By hand is best for really thin flakes.
Also dry the gratings. It lends to a less dense but decadent cake.
Happy birthday!
The 3 layer carrot cake with prailine filling and cream cheese frosting from Ann Hodgman's Beat This cookbook is by far the best I have ever had. If you cut into 12 pieces (each is 31 WW points).
Green beans can still be had at the farmer's market right now. Here are a couple of uber-easy recipes:

Thanks for all of the help everyone. I think I've settled on a recipe, though the addition of pineapple chunks kind of freaks me out. I had no idea that it was so common place to put pineapple in carrot cakes. Is that a classic thing and if so, how did I not know that?
I'm sorry, I can't resist:
"I do like green swiss chard and ham, I do like it Sam I am!"
Wow, thanks guys! These all sound amazing...I think I'm going to go with the swiss chard, but I'll dress it up a little. I also made the 4 layer chocolate cake that's on the epicurious homepage right now...great recipe, if anyone was thinking of trying it!
Check out epicurious.com for their most popular recipes of all time. They feature a killer carrot cake. Haven't made it but It's supposedly legendary.
I vote for grilled broccollini...toss with EVOO and fresh garlic, then grill over medium flame....simple, fresh and delish.
Here's a great salad, too:
Toss together: arrugula, baby greens, dried cranberries, crumbled bleu cheese, roasted almond slices, red onion, grape tomatoes, crumbled bacon, and a balsamic vinegarette -- This salad is ALWAYS a huge hit at my parties, and people are always taking seconds...of salad! imagine!
Last night I made braised pork shoulder with apples, dried wild mushrooms and rosemary and thyme from my garden. I steamed up a big mess of beautiful collards to go with. Delicious, simple and seasonal.
