Good post. No doubt there's a lot of versatility in the wines that are produced with each of these grapes. I think that the 6 noble grapes are so-called because they're the 6 grapes that are planted more than any others world-wide. So which grapes are *noble* has changed and may continue to change, e.g., recently malbec and tempranillo are beginning to be grown in more plances, wines made of the former grape have significant differences depending on where their grown.
