'Top Chef' Season 5, Episode 4: Accents Are Good for TV
I completely understood Jeff's sentiment about cooking for people with undeveloped palates. When you are making something as unique (and tasty!) and muhammara, you need to test it on people who are used to the flavors of pomegranate working as a savory dish and not just in your bottle of POM. I'm sure that Ariane's salad was amazing (I've made it before at home) but it's also not surprising that this specific group of ladies chose a salad as their choice.

My comfort food: sabudhana kichdee. It's a Konkani dish made with tapioca, chillies, peanuts, mustard seeds and love. The love part is the thought out process of soaking the tapioca overnight in anticipation of her daughter's visit.
Airport Security checkpoints and food stories....
Three years ago, my family and I took a trip to Italy. We started in Rome, traveled down to the Amalfi Coast, hit Naples, Positano, Sorrento, then traveled back to Florence. Being the vinos that we are, of course we bought wine along the way, at every possible delectable wine shop. At the end of the trip, amongst the 4 of us, we had 36 bottles of wine. Including limoncello. We bubble wrapped. And we smuggled. And we didn't get caught. Bear in mind that this was 3 years ago. But a pretty fantastic feat, you have to admit!

What I thought was ludicrous was the fact that the quickfire was judged based on the fact that Kevin happened to have the Sopranos (Italian food) and the fact that Paul Bartolotta himself cooks and enjoys Italian food. Just because that's his preference should not have swayed the way he judged this competition; that is not being a fair and impartial judge!
