How long would you cook the sauce on the stove if I don't have a slow cooker?
This sauce was delicious but I am not sure it was worth the tremendous cost and all the time. Also, don't think you need the added calories of the cream at the end. It tasted very good when I tasted it before adding the several last ingredients. I skipped the chicken livers and also used crushed tomatoes instead of having to puree the whole tomatoes. I used Redpack crushed tomatoes. No one mentions the cost of this sauce but I thought it was very expensive. Probably around $30!
My batch looked nothing at all like your picture. I made my own dulche de leche per your recipe which turned out wonderful. The dulce de leche melted almost totally into the brownies. There was very little left on the top and the brownies were not fudgy at all-very cakey which was probably due to the number of eggs. I also used an 11x7 pan which was not what was called for. It also took much much longer to bake than the recipe says. More like 45-50 mins. Will not be making these again-very disappointing.
This cake took way longer than 30 mins. More like 50. Anyone else have this issue?
