These are great suggestions! I recently got a KitchenAid mixer for a friend's wedding and they love it! Since it's summer, if you're looking for some new grilling gear, check out: http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/06/elizabeth-karmels-grilling-tips.html

Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
Ok, I just have to mix it up a bit here: Frozen biscuits? Are you kidding? People make biscuits from scratch precisely because they come together so quickly and are so tasty! Buying frozen biscuits is sort of like buying frozen toast! (Another phenomenon I'll never understand. The instructions for preparing pre-made toast that you buy in the freezer section of the grocery store: put into the toaster and, well, TOAST.) Biscuits are simple to make from scratch and I guarantee homemade biscuits will taste better. My husband, a native Kentuckian, says no true Southerner would make frozen biscuits, and serving them to guests would be just plain SHAMEFUL!

Sister Schubert's are amazing - I think the yeast rolls that come in a pan are better than the ones that come loose in a bag. I don't love the sausage as much as most people, but the cinnamon rolls are the best things EVER.
I've actually been to their headquarters in Luverne, Alabama - almost as exciting as it sounds, trust me - but they were not having tours that day. :(

Thank you all for the information. Now I need to order some of these. Some of you have said you have ordered or started to order some of these breads. Can you please provide me a good website to go to if they don't have them at Walmart here in Omaha, NE.
Thank you and HAGD,

Both Sister Schuberts and Marshalls are great products. As a matter of fact, Marshalls has been a staple here in Mobile, AL since at least the 1930's and are made practically in my back yard. Anyone who grew up here is familiar with them, and even the local school system has used Marshall's recipes for yeast rolls and biscuits since the 40's.

But where can you buy them in the NYC area? I searched and cannot find anywhere close to here? Any tips from a tri-stater?

i love sister schubert's. i haven't had them since moving out of the south, so i think i'm going to check for them at my local grocery store after work ... wish me luck!

For Chicagoans, Sister Schubert yeast rolls are available at The Fresh Market in Northbrook.

It's the sausage yeast rolls that make this brand worth buying. They are the closest thing to a Kolache that I've found mass produced and outside the state of Texas.
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
Way up here in the almost-still-frozen wastelands of central NY state the Sister Schubert's Yeast Rolls are available frozen in big bags at Sam's Wholesale Club. I'd had yeast rolls only once before - when a lady friend made me for them on a trip to visit her in Kentucky. I bought these frozen ones on a lark not expecting anything exceptional but they're fantastic. Really, really good.

Oh yes. My Floridian mother swears by Sister Schubert's breakfast rolls. We are particularly fond of the orange ones, though the blueberry are also spectacular.

I moved to Las Vegas after a lifetime in the South three years ago. Two Thanksgiving without Sister Schubert's were definitely missing something.
This past year, I ordered a mixed case (fed-ex'ed in a cold pack). 6 pans of regular and wheat were gone by dinner, and all of my Vegas friends agreed that they were the best they ever had.

When my local grocery store was out of Pillsbury frozen rolls, I grabbed Sister Schubert's and haven't gone back...my husband actually thought I baked homemade yeast rolls :)

I've never tried them either, but I just found out from the website that they carry them at the Walmart in Fredonia, NY....about 20 miles south of me...so they might be worth a drive down!

Another great story by John T.
Sister Schubert's orange rolls are a little bit of brunch heaven. I also like Mary B's biscuits, but they still pale when stacked up against the fine buttermilk gems at Bryant's Biscuits on Summer Avenue in Memphis. So good. Especially with sorghum!
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
Sister Schubert's are kind of awesome. My grandmother would always heat these up when she didn't have time to go homemade (and bread is required at every Southern meal).
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
I can think of no better way to start the day than with Marshall's biscuits. When I was little, my mom would sometimes put them in the oven in time for them to be piping hot and ready to be buttered by the time I got to the table. It was always such a big treat when that happened.
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
Living in NYC now, I just returned from a trip to see family in AL last week. I packed frozen Sister Schubert's in my luggage! They were gobbled up in a day. I am obsessed with the rolls stuffed with sausage. Since I can't get them in NYC, I just need a way to figure out how to make the recipe!
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
Sister Schubert's rolls are, IMO, the best store-bought roll you can buy. Honestly, they're a lot better than a lot of restaurant rolls or homemade bread that I've had. They have that incredible yeasty smell & taste that a good roll must have, and they are amazingly tender. I love to make homemade bread, but in a pinch, I wouldn't hesitate to serve them to guests. In terms of convenience, price, and taste, you really can't do any better.

Every Southerner I know is proud to serve Sister Schubert's rolls. The orange rolls are hard to find but so good I dream about them sometimes.

I have the marshall's rolls in my freezer right now, kind of meh, I should try sister schubert.
Has Anyone Had Sister Schubert's Rolls or Marshall's Biscuits?
I love the rolls and the biscuits. Both are widely available in groceries in Central Kentucky.
Such a time saver.
