Video: How To Send Food Back At a Restaurant
My two sisters and I went to a Vietnamese restaurant (we're also Vietnamese) and we made our order and when the food came, they gave my little sister the wrong menu item. She ordered a noodle dish and they brought out a sort of Vietnamese meatloaf that she didn't like but the waitress said in Vietnamese, "Eat it! We already cooked it!" So she sat there eating with tears rolling down her cheeks and my older sister and I were telling her, "Send it back, she can't make you eat that." But she was afraid because it was our favorite restaurant so eventually my big sister just took the item to the kitchen and demanded what she had ordered. I am not sure what my point is except that you should not have to eat what you don't want to when you are paying for it. Oh yeah, we still tipped the waitress out of habit.
Should Junk Food Help Pay for Health Care?
I eat at crappy places but am not overweight. I just substitute the fries for a side salad and use vinaigrette instead of ranch. And I usually drink unsweetened tea or water. I don't want to be taxed because other people are overindulgent. Take some personal responsibility, people.
Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: A Piece of Cake
About twice a year, I eat one of those Asian mooncakes with fruit and nuts during lunar celebrations. Some of them have the cooked yolk in it which is beautiful when you cut it in half. I have eaten them when it wasn't a lunar holiday and it doesn't taste as good. So it's all about the moon. And a cup of tea.

Cook the Book: 'New Classic Family Dinners'
One of my favorite family meals is banh xeo. They're savory, yellow crepes and having all sorts of people in my family through marriage, some being born in Vietnam, some being born here, etc., my mom gets a lot of different requests as to what to put in them. First she makes the vegetarian kind for those folks then regular Americanized ones then the hardcore ones.

Cook the Book: 'L.A.'s Original Farmers Market Cookbook'
When I lived in West Hollywood, we went to Moishe's at the 3rd/Fairfax market a lot. Usually I had the lula kabob and delicious sides. My second favorite place is The Banana Leaf. They have farmer's markets here in Austin but not a bunch of great food eateries in one place that you can take friends and everyone will be happy.
Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Pancake Mountain
I like the McGriddle at McD's. Instead of muffins or biscuits, it's inside pancakes that are injected with maple syrup! I don't eat it a lot or I will die but it is tasty. And shuddup, I can like what I like. I don't say anything about your moldy cheese or fermented tofu whatever.
Got Breast Milk?
When I was breastfeeding my baby last year, I had too much milk so I signed up to donate to the local milk bank. To be accepted, I had to fill out a ton of paperwork and my pediatrician and gynecologist had to be interviewed. It is a lot more work than giving blood so I doubt that it can be a viable and lucrative industry.
The milk bank gives the milk to premature babies and elderly patients with severe illnesses because it's easier to digest and has a lot of helpful antibodies. I think people who think breastmilk is gross are sexualizing breasts. They were there for nutrition not just use as "funbags."
Coat Check Tipping in the Recession
I hate the idea of paying someone for something I don't even want. I even avoid valet parking if I can. I guess that's what happens when you want to spend under $20 and go to a fancy restaurant. I think it's better to buy $20 of fresh ingredients and make the dinner you want and not even have to put on a coat or even shoes for that matter.

Is it just me or does the gnome look like George Bush with a beard?
Cook the Book: 'The Great Wings Book'
Though I love hot wings, my husband is scared of bones so I make him some chicken strips. Our house dips 'em in ranch cause we're very white trash.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: D'Artagnan Boneless Heritage Ham
I like the Vietnamese banh mi dac biet and the Cuban sandwich. So all the stuff that's in those two sandwiches are what I like.
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks
My favorite is Ribeye because I am one of those people that love the fat. When we have steaks at my house, everyone eats their steaks and when they are done, they push all the fat they cut off their steaks onto my plate. Not that I would turn down a fancy 2 lb. Porterhouse. I will just have to slather it in butter and wrap some bacon around it to get my daily fat intake.
Do You Put Ranch Dressing on Pizza?
I have been trying to eat healthier and ordering pizza on wheat crust. Makes the crust taste like cardboard so I need to dip it in ranch to get over the fact. Though the unhealthiness of ranch probably cancels out the benefits of getting wheat crust. Also, I understand ranch for HOT hot wings but I see people dip wings that are already seasoned with lemon pepper, bbq, etc, in ranch. Now I think that's worse than dipping pizza crust in ranch.
Top Ten Worst Halloween 'Candies'
There are also those gross chunk caramels with a stripe of pink. The worse fun sized candy is Peanut M&Ms because they can only fit a couple of those oddly shaped ones in the small package. I also don't like how they are making Peeps for every holiday. I know it's only psychological but only the chicks and bunnies taste good.
The Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt, a Bacon Burger with Two Bacon-Stuffed Grilled Cheese Sandwiches as Bun
It would be perfect if instead of hamburger patties, they had ribeye steaks. Also, caramelized onions sounds too healthy, I say toss on some onion rings. Is there a sauce on it? Though BBQ sounds like a natural choice, lemme suggest Ranch because Americans love Ranch on everything.

Layer sauerkraut in a casserole dish, place pork chops on top and season (I use cracked black pepper, garlic powder and smoked paprika), cover with lid or seal with foil, bake in 400 degree oven for 45 minutes. I like to make mashed potatoes with it, but have also just done steamed veggies on the side.
