I want to chime in for Alfalfa (a MUST), Ramsey's (but only on high street/Maxwell), Bourbon n' Toulouse, and Joe B's. But Alfalfa needs more shouts, people. Get the red beans and rice, the avocado grill, or any curry special. The menu is wide ranging, to say the least.

we went to this place last summer--just wandered in. It was mostly empty, but our food was awful--not just not-to-our-liking, but actually awful, possibly spoiled, definitely bland as paper . I love cumin, garlic, peppercorns, etc, but there definitely wasn't any of that on our plates. Since then, i've seen the place lauded over and over again. I'm so confused.
maybe we just ordered really badly. or maybe they forgot to season that day.
