What about a food processor? I fee like this gets a great puree and does a lot of "damage" to the garlic (but probably not as harsh as the microplane given online blade).
I used a common dry vermouth instead of Dolin Blanc and Ramazzotti instead of Cynar. Cocktail was very bitter - which I love, but may not work for everyone. I think Sweet Vermouth instead of dry may balance this out a bit more.
