Chain Restaurant Burgers
If you live near a Houston's, that would be my first choice! Their Hickory Burger is really good......

Honestly, everything tastes better: 1) grilled, and 2) with family and friends! So......the menu, no doubt, will include the BBQ and great company. Happy 4th and thanks for the great website!
Hey.....I'm Stacy. I live outside of DC. I'm in the radio biz. I do 4 daily shows, heard locally and on satellite radio (both in the U.S. and overseas). My major passion is anything food/cooking/baking related. I spend a good part of my day online reading food blogs and anything to do with crappy reality tv (hopelessly addicted to that, too).
Love Serious Eats!! Great site!
Got a panini maker for Christmas, and LOVE it!!! Fave right now (and it changes by the week, really) is: procuitto, provolone, salami, basil, balsamic and a drizzle of olive oil on ciabatta. So good.
(However, reading all these comments is giving me more inspiration to experiment some more!!!)
There is a cookie that I am in love with from Whole Foods. It's called a Chocolate Chewie and it's low fat (yea, I KNOW!). It sounds similar to what you are talking about, but without walnuts. It's really good......
-Corn Bread mix
-Truffle Brownie mix
-Olive Oil
-Ciabatta Rolls, Procuitto, Salami, and whatever cheese catches my fancy for the best PANINIS!
-Frozen pizzas
-Frozen Basmati Rice and Brown Rice
-Best prices on all nuts and dried fruit
-Bagel Chips
I didn't follow the rules, either. :-) I'm sure there are many other things, too, but these are what's coming to mind right now.
Yea, I have to agree with a lot of other comments.....I, too, got the Cuisinart Griddler for Christmas and I love it. I can't compare it to others, since it's my first...BUT....I have made numerous paninis so far, with excellent results. The true test for a good panini is the bread, I think. Get good bread, and you're set!
I have also grilled chicken and veggies on it and used the griddle for pancakes and bacon. All in all, very pleased!
I have never liked yogurt. And, I'm not much of a "breakfast foods" person. So, when you wake up to go to work daily at 4am, you need to find SOMETHING to fill the belly. Well, I tried FAGE 0% this year, and I now like yogurt! Ok, well, Greek Yogurt. I top mine with honey and almonds. Love it.
Confession to make: I have lived in Maryland the majority of my life and have NEVER had a NY Bagel. Never! What's a good Jewish girl like me to do? Suffer through drab bagels my whole life. I lOVE bagels and lox. And, bagels and whitefish salad. And, bagels and smoked sable. And, the halevah thrown in reminds me of my late Gma Irma. Yum. Pick me.
I am a true believer that EVERYTHING tastes better with bacon. Lately, brussel sprouts roasted with bacon has been a fave in our house!

@lemons, I'm slow seeing this thread again but by Central US, I mean the states that generally sit in the center of the country if you look at a map and are in the central time zone, including Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Depending on who you ask, Arkansas, which has Braum's locations, is sometimes lumped in with the Southeast.
Braum's has been in the first half of Oklahoma for 30+ years (Tulsa area), if you're driving north to south or east to west.
Hi bessfour, I logged on to the Counter Burger website, and this looks like a winner. I live on the East Coast also, and hope one will be coming to the Central Fla area. If no one replies to your post, please give an update, thanks!
Don't see any mention of Counter Burger. We have one opening up in West Hartford and I understand it's the first on the East Coast. There was quite a buzz about this a few months ago...anyone eaten there?
Braum's isn't so much the Central US (I assume you mean like the Midwest?) as it is towards the south. When we drive from St. Louis to Dallas, one of our markers is how far north Braum's has moved. I believe theres now one in Springfield, MO, but until last year we didn't find them until the second half of Oklahoma.
And I vote for Steak 'n' Shake. Five Guys is good when it's good but a little inconsistent.
Houston's is by far the best chain restaurant burger around. The beef is excellent quality, and its always cooked perfectly
Ruby Tuesday's alpine swiss burger is really tasty, and I hate to admit it, but also fast-food chain, Dairy Queen's mushroom swiss grillburger, although it is very messy.
Best sit-down chain burger is at Houston's (if you live near one)...
Best fast-food chain burger is at In-N-Out (again, if you live near one)...
Flamers' - the best chain burger I've tasted ever.
Fuddruckers' (which they don't have in Philly)
5 Guys
In and Out Burger
Checkers
Burger King
God help me... I really, really like the Angus burger at Mickey D's. There. I said it.
