Cook the Book: 'Not Your Mother's Casseroles'
Hard to choose - I don't think you can ever go wrong with Shepard's Pie, Lasagna, or Spanakopita. I'm having two of those this week - can't wait!
A Sandwich a Day: Turkey, Avocado on Jalapeno Jack Bread at Rubicon Deli in San Diego, CA
Yum! Love having a Rubicon in Reno!
WHERE THE HELL DID _ _ _ _ _ _ _ GO?!
Don't judge me: Where the hell did Berry Berry Kix go? I loved those!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Russ & Daughters Brunch Package
Can I only choose one? It's pretty hard to decide between huevos rancheros, eggs benedict, bagels and lox, corned beef hash, homemade bisucuits and gravy, or just good 'ole ham, eggs, and hashbrowns.
How often do you try a new recipe?
Almost nightly. I have my go to recipes (like stir fry, spaghetti, chili, etc), but I definitely like to switch it up... A LOT.
Thanksgiving ... So, how'd it go? Success? Hilarious failures?
I had only planned on helping prepare all the sides, but got a call Wednesday night saying that my mom was sick and that I was pretty much going to take the lead.
Because it was so cold and my mom got the turkey started kind of late (in the smoker) we thought the turkey would be done way later than it actually was. I only had half the sides done by the time the turkey was done. But with organization and a little reheating on the stove's plate warmer, everything was served together and warm.
I got thrown into making a Thanksgiving dinner and it was a huge success. And I might be a little biased, but it might of been one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I've ever eaten.
Should staff members introduce themselves?
I won't remember their name as soon as they walk away. As long as they are friendly and answer my questions, then I'm just fine.
What do you eat for dinner the night before Turkey Day?
Lentil Soup. Trying to keep it pretty healthy all week so I don't feel so bad about all the food on Thursday (and Friday)!
Coworkers and food smells
I don't mind the smell of fish from the microwave, what I can't stand is all of the people, that like avaryne said, run around spraying all the air fresheners. That makes it worse for me - like impossible to walk down the hallway and breath.
Stuffing or Dressing
We don't stuff our turkey because it always goes on the smoker. But we still call it stuffing nonetheless.
Poll: How Do You Brew Your Coffee?
I didn't even know what moka pot, turkish coffee or Aeropress were until I goggled them. I'm sticking with my drip brew - it's ready for me when I get up in the morning!
Cook the Book: 'Fresh from the Market'
Apple Cider from a local apple farm, picking pumpkins, Halloween, pumpkin pie, the leaves changing color, and boots and scarves. Fall is my favorite season!
Chain Gang -- Do you secretly love a chain restaurant??
Jimmy Johns
Pita Pit
Gandolfo's
Spicy Pickle
Beach Hut Deli
I think I have a sandwich obsession going here....
Serious Heat: What's Spicy in Your Fridge?
Sriracha, Thai Red Curry Paste, Tapatio, sambal oelek, Franks Red Hot, and Habanero Hot Sauce.
A Virtual Tour of Kenji Alt's Food Lab Kitchen
Very nicely stocked!! I'm quite jealous. And like you, my dog is also the "Taste Tester Extraordinare". Either that or the automatic floor cleaner....
Equipment: The Best Mixing Bowls
I have a set of glass bowls that I absolutely love for both mixing and serving purposes. I also have a couple stainless steel bowls from Ikea which are intended to be serving bowls but they work great as a double boiler.
Cook the Book: 'Farm to Fork'
Strawberries from my mom's patch - we'd pick right off the plants and pop them right in our mouth. I don't think very many of them ever made it back to the kitchen.
Also, when in Costa Rica we drank coconut milk straight from the coconut from a roadside stand.
Having It Your Way: Is Too Much Choice Ruining Coffee?
I don't see anything wrong with customizing your coffee. However, I am just partial to house coffee with room for cream (but really I just use fat free milk).
Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Tropical Fruits?
Actually, not too bad - 70%
Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Tropical Fruits?
I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that I won't get very many correct. Not that I ever get that many correct, but, you know...
How do you eat your chicken salad?
I always have mine as a sandwich - toasted whole wheat bread with a little smear of mayo (I know, it already in the salad, but I can't help it!) and topped with some green or red leaf lettuce.
Poll: Do You Grill Burgers with Lump Charcoal or Briquettes?
Also propane...
What is Your Absolute Favorite "Ethnic" Cuisine?
Mexican, with Greek being a close second. *drooling thinking about all that good food*
Poll: Do You Call Them Jimmies or Sprinkles?
I never even knew there was a name for them other than Sprinkles!

Mine always tend to be cuts. Every time I think I'm going to get a burn, it turns out that it doesn't even leave a mark. My cuts are never that bad - just just a cut on the tip of my finger or knuckle.
