The Best Restaurants We Reviewed in 2010

Thanks for posting this. I go to NY for the holidays and always plan a food tour. I was unsure for Manhattan breakfast (Egg for Brooklyn), and it was between Breslin and Locanda Verde (did LV last trip). I completely forgot about Maialino! Decision made! Can't wait to try that bacon!!

BTW - I love how at the end of the show, when Bobby says "ask yourself this..." and then the challenger takes over and says "are you ready for a throwdown", Bobby always mouths the words as he looks at the challenger like a parent would do at their child's play. It's the little things in life...

Growing up, my parents would leave it in the box on the countertop too. I remember it being so dry the next day, even after reheating. I never understood why they did that. I'm a foil in the fridge kinda guy.

I agree w RachelZ - there aren't any likable characters like in seasons past. Kevin Gillespie from last season is a perfect example, as he was such a likable guy and it was obvious he was cooking from his heart.

4.95 is a good price, but I would only buy it if you can use it without freezing it. Like DMC said, avoid freezing if you can. It sucks out some of the moisture, making for less than desirable juicyness... This brings up an interesting topic and a good experiment for Kenji. How much effect does freezing really have on meat.

Made this last night. Great flavor and very easy. I used jalapenos for the 4oz of green chilis and it was perfect - a little kick but not too spicy by any means.
