Poll: Pickled Peppers, Way or No Way?

IMHO,
Fresh chiles are by far the best, and can serve as a delightful and savory complimentary addition to many pizza flavors,,,,,
Jalapenos sliced thinly or diced, serranos or Thai hots minced finely, poblanos or Anaheims roasted, peeled, and sliced thinly or chopped, a tiny dab of habanero or chile pequin, are all super fabulous!

Any ex-vegetarians located in Boston or New England?

Hello, and sorry, I can't help you, I'm a Southern veg/almost vegan for over 42 years now, and have no interest in ever eating meat again, though your article sounds interesting.
Good Luck,

Poll: How Do You Remember School Cafeteria Pizza?

We did not ever have pizza back in Ye Olden Days at my schools.
Everything was made from scratch daily.
I still feel nostalgic and dreamy thinking about the 'Lunch Lady Rolls",
the very best yeast rolls I have ever eaten, to this day.
I also remember things like: being bored in the First Grade( at lunch in a depressed, poverty stricken area of South Louisiana,(where all lunches cost ten cents) and stopping counting at FORTY shrimp in my Shrimp Etoufee.....

Great Milkshake: Black Tiger at Jim & Patty's in Portland, OR

This beverage sounds FANTASTIC!!!!!, especially with
the crunch and bitterness of the addition of coffeegrounds,

If you're forced to put pineapple on a pizza...

I am a vegetarian pizza lover, who doesn't like pineapple on pizza AT ALL.
I would appreciate someone trying to include me, but would not eat a pizza that had bacon on ANY part of it......bacon has juice, ya know....

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Truffle Lovers Pasta

Oh, my, yes, count me in-I was even found a few years ago snorting the fresh truffles at Central Market here in Austin!!!
Seriously, though, very few foods make me feel as swoon-y as truffles do, and I usually think that the simplest of preparations showcase them best, as mentioned above by many others- shaved atop creamy scrambled eggs, on (and in) fresh pastas, mac 'n' cheese, on golden roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, oil drizzled on homemade potato chips, sigh....

Mixed Review: Crate & Barrel vs. Trader Joe's Cornbread

I don't have a Trader Joes here(Austin,Tx.), nor Safeway, Giant, or Han, but I know Whole Foods has an extensive bulk collection, and that Safeway now has an organic section, and may carry bulk now. Many co-ops will allow you to pay in increments, and/or work in lieu of full payment(inventory, stocking, etc.)

Dressing, made without egg/meat(so it can sit a little longer at room temperature)...stuffed acorn squash is also good at room temperature, stuffed with dressing, rice, or lentils, or unstuffed glazed with maple syrup or honey, with a little cinnamon and cayenne and a sprinkle of toasted pecans...a composed citrus-beet salad, a field greens salad with a lovely dressing and shaved parmesan or goat cheese- really, we need more info, as above commenter noted.

White truffles: what would you make?

Truffle fatigue- wow, that has never happened to me...
Oh, please, where are you? Can one visit? Barter, trade, sell one's soul, first born child?
I like the very softly scrambled egg with cream and the truffles shaved(OK sliced) on top...a fire roasted baking potato with a crispy skin, sea salt, the truffle, and a little white cheese, or maybe not....steamed asparagus, truffle...crusty bread and butter.. and a very good sparkling wine/champagne...
I am drifting off into fantasyville now-that poached egg sounds almost obscenely good....wow....

Mixed Review: Crate & Barrel vs. Trader Joe's Cornbread

Oh, and for the person who had cornmeal for three years in their pantry and difficulty using it up in a timely manner:
First, just go ahead and compost what you have now-the small amount of fat in it will have gone rancid after this long.
Second, purchase some good quality bulk cornmeal, and store it in your freezer. If you double ziplock bag it and remove and add a new ziplock bag for the outer layer approximately every three months, the corn meal will stay fresh, not go rancid, or taste refrigeratery-freezery for at least a year. I would not buy more than I could reasonably expect to use in a year. This double- bagged method also works well with flours and other whole grains.

Mixed Review: Crate & Barrel vs. Trader Joe's Cornbread

I ALWAYS make my cornbread from scratch. I save and use up soured milk for it, if I don't have soured milk on hand I add a tablespoon or so of either vinegar or lemon juice to the milk to sour it, giving the cornbread that wonderful buttermilky tang without having to use buttermilk, plus it interacts with the leavening and helps with the rise.
I HATE, ABHOR, AND JUST WON'T EAT SUGARY DESSERT-STYLE CORNBREAD, WITH SAVORY DISHES, OR OTHERWISE-FEH!!!!
One can easily discern that I feel rather strongly about this.:)
