The Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger at Shake Shack on the Upper West Side

glad to see I'm not the only person who loves pb & bacon together! Not sure I'd love them with a burger though.

they are fantastic, I didn't know they could still be purchased though! We used to get them at Marshal Fields/Hudson's in Michigan. Loved them.

Best sandwich in Manhattan?

I had a falafel sandwich from Mamoun's this afternoon. Delicious! If you don't want it swimming in tahini sauce though, be sure to ask for light sauce. So good.

Happy Pancake Tuesday!

The maple walnut pancakes at Neil's Coffee Shop on the UES. Always delicious! Then the pancakes at Clinton Street - but haven't been there for a while.

Should Bagel Shops Charge For Toasting?

I'm a fan of Lenny's sandwiches, but this is definitely not cool. I totally agree with others above, it really doesn't take that much time to toast a bagel and there's nothing keeping them from helping the next customer. They do that anyway when they're making sandwiches. Goodness. I definitely won't be buying a bagel at Lenny's anytime soon.

What's So Weird About That?

I loved (and still do) peanut butter on my BLT's. I used to put mayonaise (or miracle whip) on one side and peanut butter on the other, but now it's just the PB. Also, my Dad got me hooked on jam (usually strawberry) on grilled cheese. Grill the sandwich like normal and then when you're plating it, put a bit of jam on the top. It's so good I want one now! I can completely imagine how good a jelly & cream cheese sandwich could be.

I'm getting hungry too! Thanks for the suggestions. I've never heard of Amai Tea & Bake House, so I'll have to check it out.

Best Pastries in Manhattan?

I know fruit fillings aren't traditional for croissants, but there was a bakery in the town where I grew up that did this, so I was hoping someone here might as well - tradition, you know? Thanks for the advice!

subway rides will probably cost more than $2 ea by the time you come to the city, but hopefully it will still be cheaper than taking a cab everywhere!

NYC - Manhattan's Best Chocolalte Chip Cookie?

The perfect BLT

I have to try the avocado idea, but my absolute favorite is this:
Hearty whole wheat or multi-grain bread
Not too crisp, thick bacon
a few big pieces of iceberg lettuce
ripe tomatoes
peanut butter
yes... you read that right. Peanut butter. The crunchier the better!
