Vegetarian cookbook recommendations?
I second (third, fourth, whatever) the recommendations for Veganomicon and Vegan with a Vengeance. The recipes are simple, and I also find the layout of the cookbooks very user-friendly. I like Deborah Madison and Crescent Dragonwagon as well, although I am sometimes overwhelmed by the sheer number of recipes in their books!

Win Your Thanksgiving Turkey!
breast, heart, and definitely the leftovers
Cook the Book: 'Dolce Italiano, Desserts From the Babbo Kitchen'
Anything hazelnut... Torta Gianduja, Perugina's Baci chocolates, nutella. Hazelnut and chocolate together always remind me of Italy.
Cook the Book: 'How to Cook Everything Vegetarian' Book Giveaway
Yay for all the butternut squash fans! I recently made a butternut squash risotto recipe (did I get it from Serious Eats? maybe...) that was awesome. Baked eggplant stuffed with spiced-up stuffing mix, tomatoes, and peanuts and topped with cheese... yowza! And another shout out for Deborah Madison's vegetarian cookbooks. Hungarian Mushroom Soup from Moosewood. And finally, Potato knishes. Yum!! You can't beat pastry, potatoes and cheese! (Okay, I'm a little too excited about this post. ;-)
Cinnamon roll experts?
I've made Ree's cinnamon rolls as well, with the maple frosting. They were awesome, and the dough was simple to make. I'd highly recommend her recipe!
Words Into Action: Mario's Tomatillo Sauce Is Hot
I couldn't find any tomatillos, dammit. I live in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestions? Can I substitute some other variety of tomato?
Cook the Book: 'Southern Belly'
The Shrimp Shack on Saint Helena Island in the low country of South Carolina. The shrimp burger or the flounder sandwich. Oh my, the flounder sandwich!!
Plain 'Ol Coffee...
Most mornings its just Folger's half-caff in a travel mug, with splenda and non-dairy creamer. More than that gives me palpitations (yes, I am getting old). Occasionally we splurge and get some French Roast or Sumatra. Dark roast coffee is the best!
Cook the Book: 'Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant'
I usually resort to childhood comfort foods when alone - red devil (thickened tomato soup over crushed crackers), dumpling soup, grilled peanut butter sandwich. And then mint chocolate chip ice cream. Hmmm, how can I get my husband and children out of the house?
Cook the Book: 'The Breakaway Cook'
For me, it's not an ingredient but my kitchen itself. I moved a few years ago from my post-college digs with the tiny oven that never worked properly to a nice big house with a new oven. It was a revelation!!
I feel like my most successful dishes now are those that are simple with fresh ingredients like homegrown herbs and vegetables.
Cook the Book: 'Baking, From My Home to Yours'
Rosie's Bakery cappuccino shortbread sails are one of my favorite cookies to make at home.
Cook the Book: 'The Perfect Scoop'
Ghirardelli's in Orlando makes some mighty awesome sundaes. I think there's one called the Gold Rush (or something like that). Toasted almonds, butterscotch, and fudge over vanilla ice cream... aaaahhhhh. Get me a plane ticket!! Of course, for a closer to home treat, there's always Graeter's. And honestly, I wouldn't refuse a peanut butter cup Blizzard from DQ either... well heck, if it's ice cream, it's all good!
Cook the Book Giveaway: 'Peace, Love, and Barbecue'
I gave my husband this cookbook for father's day a couple years ago and he loves it. Big Bob Gibson's hickory-smoked chicken with Alabama white sauce is awesome. I love this book!
My favorite barbecue is a big platter of pulled pork with sweet barbecue sauce, baked beans, and sweet potato fries.
Cook the Book: 'Donuts, An American Passion'
Burke's Bakery in Danville, Kentucky. And not just the donuts, but the rolls, and the cookies, and... sugar overload!
Cook the Book: 'The Silver Palate Cookbook, 25th Anniversary Edition'
I think Moosewood was one of my first favorites. And the Frugal Gourmet (although I agree with the earlier poster - I always feel slightly ashamed when I use one of his books). And The Heritage of Southern Cooking, by Camille Glenn, which always makes me want to talk like Scarlett O'Hara when I'm making one of her recipes.
'On Top of Spaghetti' Book Giveaway
Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, fresh basil and parmigiano. A little crushed red pepper is good too. And a nice crusty bread on the side. Well, I know what I'm having for dinner now...
Question of the Day: What's Your Favorite Holiday Food?
Homemade fried dough. Mom makes it for Christmas breakfast every year.
