I miss miss miss the pink guava and the jujube. i have memories of actually climbing the guava tree and sitting on a branch, eating the fruits straight of the tree. The jujubes are so delicious, esp. the large green ones.

Here is another one - I just linked in the submission in Photograzing: Curried Chicken in Cilantro Chili Pepper Sauce- An easy Indian Chicken Curry
http://www.ecurry.com/blog/curries/gravies/curried-chicken-in-cilantro-chili-pepper-sauce/
For dbcurrie:
The Manshor Curry that you have linked to is authentic. From the sound and the name of it, it sounds like a Bengali dish (from the state of West Bengal). I could not help but comment here, (sorry guys, i don't mean to take up all the space here) as I am originally from West Bengal:-) and kind of got all excited seeing this! Traditionally goat meat is used, but since it is not so easily available her, lamb is a good substitute. This is a popular kind of recipe when we grew up enjoying on a Sunday when everyone in the family was home and we could all sit down and eat.. with some hot steaming rice.
BTW: Sanjeev Kapoor (the author of the book how to cook Indian) is the best of all. His recipes are all authentic and one can go ahead and cook without one bit of doubt in mind.
Weekend Cook and Tell: Experimenting with Indian
aanzee.. you can use vinegar or lemon juice.. does not really matter. After the first time, it is a good idea to save some of the whey and use the whey to split the milk. I use about 1/3 - 1/2 cup of acid (lemon juice or vinegar) for a gallon of milk.. start with the 1/3 and use a bit more as needed. If you are concerned about the smell, give the paneer a quick wash once the solids are collected in the cheese cloth, before hanging it to drain.
I have a post here on step by step which might help..(Note: the post is for a different recipe made from the paneer, but it shows the Paneer How To, too) :
http://www.ecurry.com/blog/desserts/sandesh/
Hope this helps. If you google, you will get a lot of good instructions on making paneer at home..
Paneer does not have anything other than the milk and the acid (some use salt - mix it in after the paneer is collected).. if you feel there is a nutty taste - that is natural. unlike most other cheese, it is fresh and does not use the rennet.. I am thinking that might make the difference? never thought of the flavor in this line :-)
Weekend Cook and Tell: Experimenting with Indian
No I do not get offended! Irrespective of what region of India it is from, it is Indian, and all regions are parts of India. True that the cuisine varies in very little corner of India and every dish is made differently not just in a region, but in every household... one little change of spice or ingredient gives it a new look. There is a large history, and the food in India got influenced by various cultures with each invasion. Every influence has been adapted in to the cuisine of Indian food.
In my blog, I usually do a write up about the history, influence or how the recipe is different in different regions if the recipe deserves an explanation. Even after all these differences, the cuisine is undeniably Indian!
Weekend Cook and Tell: Experimenting with Indian
Being an Indian, I cook Indian food at least 4-5 times a week.
Paneer Makhani aka Butter Paneer is a classic north Indian dish where the succulent cubes of home made cheese is simmered in a creamy tomato sauce, all made with fresh ingredients. here is the link for the recipe I recently posted:
