If you love Rachael Ray...

She works hard, she is pretty, she has genuine enthusiasm, she tells stories while she juggles a three course meal, and maybe, just Maybe, some people have "sour grape syndrome" here. The reason she has so many shows and books and even a magazine is, she is Genuinely Popular. How about that?

Rachael Ray - love, hate, ignore, pity, envy?

My goodness, I wonder how she can be so popular, when bloggers everywhere seem to hate her.

Personally, I love Rachael, and always have. I love her incessant cheeriness, and find it refreshing, not annoying. She is pretty, informative, and tells stories while she works. I see talent when I watch her, and she does not burn the food, like some other cooks. She chops veggies fast and fearlessly, and I like how she does every single bit in real time.

And I think Yum-O is a catchy, unforgettable name for a website, and a good cause, too.

Who's your most/least favorite food personality on Food Channel?

Tyler Florence is my absolute favorite, and the show he did in Italy was really great. His ultimate recipes look awesome. I remember so many of the old time shows mentioned here, Too Hot Tamales, Justin Wilson Cajun Cookin, Grilling and Chilling, That opera-singing Italian chef who used to be great to watch, he never used utensils to turn his steam/saute dishes, he just tossed them in the air while singing, and he may have been the original thirty minute chef. Martha Stewart used to be on food channel, but they ditched her when she got convicted. Also, Michael Lamonico is a really fun chef to watch.
Least favs are the ones where noone cooks.

I am ready to try making homemade bread!

Make bread! Peasants did it with no equipment nor recipes for thousands of years, and there is no reason that we cannot do it, too! Give it a try, and see how you like it. It is fun and rewarding, in my opinion, and the actual recipe you choose will probably have all the tips you will need for a nice loaf. Laurel's Kitchen Bread book is an interesting and uplifting book, and the banana bread recipe (although a quick bread, with no kneading) is delicious and a personal favorite of mine.

Question of the Day: What surprises your friends most to hear that you make yourself?

Soups and Chowders from fresh fish heads and bones. People just cannot believe that I would bother to do that! Grouper head soup is delicious.
