Living in NYC, I can't grill it like I would like. So, searing in a cast iron pan and finishing in the oven will have to do!
I don't know that it's the absolute best, as I have to admit I haven't tasted enough others to make a true judgement, but Omar's in Midtown East is my go-to at lunchtime. It's absolutely packed during the lunch hours and you leave smelling like meat all day, but it's so wonderful to get a huge plate of meat and sides for $10.
Celeste is my absolute favorite. It's almost upsetting that it's on the radar now! Land is my go-to Thai place and is always solid. Kefi and Calle Ocho are the places I'll usually take people from other neighborhoods. And Pio Pio...we seriously considered not renting our new apartment because it was just out of their delivery range.
Mmmmm pork belly buns.
Great review! Some other can't miss menu items:
-Have to echo the pasta with shrimp and cabbage, which is amazing.
-Fried artichoke appetizer. Super fresh artichokes with fried parsely on top which is nearly life changing.
-Limoncello tartufo dessert is completely unique and can't be beat.
Also, (almost done!), on Mondays, you must order a "special pizza." It's two pieces of dough baked to golden brown perfection, simply stuffed with the best cheese I've ever had (think a salty, light, creamy ricotta) and lightly seasoned with truffle oil. Can't beat it.
