Cook the Book: 'Endangered Recipes' by Lari Robling

My Grandfather making breakfast. He was a silent man and showed his love by doing something special for his grandkids. When spending the night has his house we would wake up every morning to his cooking bacon, fried eggs and toast. The eggs cooked in the bacon grease. He never altered his menu and continued this even when I was an adult. He passed away over 20 years ago and miss his special love.

Cook the Book: 'Tacos'

Fish Tacos in Old Town San Diego. Can't remember name of the resturant, but will never forget the taste. Everything fresh and flavorful. Always searching for a great fish taco to match.

Cook the Book: 'Ten'

Raspberry Cheesecake. While I was pregnant I drove around Seattle at 10 o’clock at night looking for it. Never found raspberry, had to settle for plain.

Cook the Book: 'The Modern Baker'

My baking disaters are everything right now. I'm renting and the oven is the worst. The temperature in the oven is all over the place. So antything I bake could be burnt on the bottom, dry on the sides and uncooked in the middle, who knows until you take it out of the pan. Hate it.

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Saucier's Apprentice'

Several years ago I was heating oil in wok for stir fry and turned my back for a couple of minutes. Bad idea. Suddenly flames are reaching half way to the ceiling, the smoke detectors sounding and the kids are screaming. Grabbed the baking soda and quickly got it out but the kitchen was full of smoke and the ceiling was black. Had to leaving the windows open all night to air out and repaint the ceiling. Couple of days later it was my birthday and one of my friends thought it was appropriate to give me a fire extinguisher as a gift. Still have it to this day and never another need to use it.

Everywhere I read this days or when watching food shows on TV it is "chimichurri".

Cook the Book: 'Seven Fires'

I went to a Brazilian BBQ place once, having heard how awesome the whole experience was. I was looking forward to some beef, cut off the roast at the table and all the side dishes. Unfortunately, we arrived between lunch and dinner, and had to order something from the regular menu. I think I had a half decent chicken sandwich and fries or something. Real let down.

Hard to beat steak with a good chimichurri. Empanadas with chimichurri come in a close second. Buenos Aires home cooking can be a culinary adventure because of the cultural diversity of the city.

Causa-it's a delicious Peruvian dish made with seasoned potatoes and chicken or crab, I'm a seafood fan so I usually make it with crab and it goes pretty quickly around here!

most of my favorite food memories are from when we used to go camping. I don't know why, but everything always used to taste better when camping. I think my favorite food memory was the first time my dad cooked turkey on a grill (while camping of course). Not only was I amazed that you could cook a turkey anywhere but the oven, it was also the best turkey that I had ever had.
