A Guide to the Best Doughnuts in New York
Living in Los Angeles I am happy to have experienced Leonard's, (I proudly display their bumper sticker!) Donut Man, and The Doughnut Plant.
Love them all! Stan's in Westwood is a great place for anyone visiting L.A.

It's upsetting beingets couldn't make the donut list, but the only ones I've sampled up here are pretty pathetic.
A Guide to the Best Doughnuts in New York
so i printed this list and tried to do an all-donut weekend on sat and sunday of this weekend... and I treked all around the city and was terribly disappointed. my first stop was donut plant, which as always was amazing, and that was the only donut place where i actually got donuts- but i don't want to jump ahead. my next stop was Shopsin, which is very close to donut plant, unfortunately the whole place stops serving (anything) sometime between 2 & 3, so we were turned away. next stop, Abraco's Ricotta Fritters. when we got there, i didn't see much of a food setup so I asked the guy behind the counter "do you have donuts", and he replied "we don't turn on the fryer until it's cold". to which i replied, "when is that", and he said "when it's cold". now, i am not sure if that means nighttime or feburary, but what i can tell you is that they don't have donuts on november 8th, at 3:30. After those 2 failures (in the rain), I decided to hold off on donuts until the next day.
i woke up on sunday all rejuvenated and ready to have the best custard and jam donut, so i made my way up to Bouchon Bakery, found the take-out area in the mall, waited in a substantial line, got to the front of the line and found out that they only make donuts on saturday!!!
at that point i gave up, and ate a pastry (which was amazing), and went home.
so everyone should be aware- that while these may be the best donuts in nyc, they are the restrictive and elite food establishments in the city. don't get your hopes up, because you probably won't be able to eat any of them :)

Ricotta fritters not yet available at Abraco until it gets much colder.

great post! who doesn't love a good donut?
Strangely I've found some great ones at that coffee shop on 7th ave in Park Slope near 9th st. It's just a non-descript coffee shop that happens to make its own donuts fresh every day. go figure.

I'm so glad you made the trek to Sunnyside to visit Alpha Donuts! Now I totally crave one of their marble glazed cake donuts... which, in addition to the crullers, are delicioso.

I know dark chocolate is better for you, but I love me some milk chocolate.
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate
Milk!
Please randomly select me!!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate
I honestly love both - I love good quality Belgian milk chocolate, but nothing can be better than real dark chocolate truffles (I prefer Belgian or French)! All right, I start thinking that what I am really saying is that I love Belgian chocolate, whether it's milk or dark:-)
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate
I am beginning to prefer a velvety belgium milk to dark, but dark is still my favorite so far!!!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate
White, i recognize it isn't really chocolate but I still like it better
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate
Dark, darker and darkest.
