Super Bowl: How to Build an Edible Stadium with a Guacamole Field

They both also have red and white on their jerseys, so maybe something tomato based? Or mozzerella balls & cherry tomatoes arranged to spelll the team names? Maybe accent with blue chips.

$20 Costco Kirkland Champagne Isn't Actually A Good Deal

I tried it at Thanksgiving and was not crazy about it. The bitterness kinda turned me off. Turning it into a mimosa didn't help. I agree that if you want to save money and still get a nice bubbly, cremants are the way to go.

Hot Dog of the Week: Kielbasa from Swiacki Meats in Philadelphia

Everything looks so good. Makes me nostalgic for those trips to Kurowycky at the holidays.

The sea kayaking guides recommended it, didn't they? Seeing this, I wish I had taken them up on it.

SE Staff Picks: Fall Comfort Foods We Love Eating

That Pumpkin Turkey Chili has been one of my favorites since it was first posted. BTW, whatever happened to "Eat for Eight Bucks?" I really liked that column. Maybe the $8 limit isn't feasible anymore?

Serious Eats Goes on a Juice Cleanse

A seven mile walk AND kettlebell session in one day? Impressive!

Turrón de Chocolate (Chocolate Biscuit Cake)

Fun fact about Maria Biscuits - They're named after Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, Tsar Alexander II's only daughter. The were introduced on the occasion of her marriage to Queen Victoria's 2nd son, Alfred.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with American Spirits

I love bourbon, but always associate it with cooler weather. Vodka is more "summer" to me. Anyway, Smirnoff used to be made in Bethel, CT, that's American enought for me.

This Week at Serious Eats World Headquarters

I am so sorry. I always looked forward to the pictures. Having just lost my beloved cat Lilly 3 weeks ago, I certainly empathize with you.

Cook the Book: Lemony Chicken Pot Pie with Parsley Biscuit Crust

" time I might incorporate a few more veggies. I could see peas and carrots or even spinach working their way into this recipe beautifully."

I agree. This sounds good, but looks a bit monochromatic. Some veggies would add welcome color.

Dinner Tonight: Sichuan-Style Chicken Noodle Soup

Yowza! They really do make your mouth tingle. I think this cured my husband's cold.

Daily Slice: Gyro Uno, Astoria, Queens

Oh man, I miss this type of pizza.

Serious Reads: The King of Vodka, by Linda Himelstein

I agree this is a very entertaining book, whether you're interested in the liquor aspect, the business aspect or the Russian history aspect. I was into it for all three, plus I used to live down the street from their distillery in Bethel, CT.

When my Dad makes it - it's one of the few things he cooks and he does it brilliantly.

Spice Hunting: Hyssop

@shoneyjoe - LOL - When I saw this the first thing I thought was "Thou shalt purge me with hyssop and I shall be whiter than snow."

Dinner Tonight: Roasted Beet and Potato Borscht

@grumblekitty - I never have sour cream with mine and it's just fine. Actually, I prefer it that way.

(Fast) Lunch Options at/near the Javits Center?

I will be among a number of miserable law students taking the NY State Bar Exam on July 27th & 28th. I see that the Javits Center has two Food Courts, but considering they'll probably be jammed, I was wondering if there are any options close by that are good for grabbing a quick bite. The lunch break is not long, so a sit-down meal is not an option. I was going to pack a lunch, but the limit on items you can bring in and lack of refrigeration makes this a bit challenging. Are there any decent food trucks that park near there?
