For those still looking for feedback the pots and pans thread
Calphalon gets my vote. My husband protested the prices, so I bought him the cheap stuff that he said was "what one should pay for a pan." Needless to say, his eggs burned (or were undercooked), his sauces burned (or didn't simmer), and his grilled foods burned (or wouldn't brown). Tomorrow, we are returning the cheap stuff! He has not stopped singing the praises of the flexibility and stability of Calphalon! One small victory for culinary taste!
Strange combos
This will tell you how old I am: When Laverne and Shirley was on, I started drinking milk and Pepsi b/c Laverne did! It was actually really good, kinda like a bad version of a root beer float! I also went through a phase of dipping all French Fries in mayonnaise. Someone told me it was very European, so, naturally, I had to do it! I often wonder if I'm the only nerd who wanted to appear more sophisticated than my zip code and my years!
banana cake
I have tried tons of banana cakes, and none were as light, fluffy, moist and balanced as this one. To make into a layer cake, double the recipe, bake in 8" or 9" round pans, and adjust the cooking time for those pans. I would use the coconut frosting on top of the cake, but it may be a little heavy for the filling - you might choose a lighter non-cream cheese for that (easy to find on the Epicurious site). One last hint that makes this cake awesome: Make sure your bananas are really ripe, and use cake flour. Hope this helps!

My husband and I were going to Red Robin and Cheesecake Factory 10+ years ago in L.A. They sucked then, and they absolutely suck now.
Daphne's used to be a place to get an okay in-a-pinch Greek Salad. Then they hired a fast food CEO who, in the Customer Newsletter, said his goal for the company was to make it mega rich. Stunningly, his goals didn't include making great food or providing excellent customer service. After that, their salads deteriorated, and so did my support.
For the sake of money and convenience, we once tried returning to our fast food tastes of years ago. We stopped almost immediately because our bodies wouldn't tolerate that level of bad food anymore!
That said, In-n-Out in a pinch, and Jamba Juice on any sweltering day!
