Who doesn't like burgers more than the average person? The average person is somebody of medium height, medium weight, medium income, and medium intelligence. Boring! But a burger is one of the great inventions in history, superior to all other foods in deliciousness and satisfaction. Of course I'd rather have a burger. It's no contest -- the burger reigns supreme!
Hm, but maybe you wanted to know when I realized I like burgers more than that dullard, the average person, does?
Like most people, I don't remember what happened when I was younger than 3 years old... But a little later, I was sitting at the counter at The Hamburger Train, watching the chef put my burger on a flatcar so it could make its journey around the restaurant and come to a stop in front of me -- and even though that was lots of fun, I wondered why he couldn't just take the burger and give it to me, already!
And meanwhile, the average person was eating a PB&J on Wonder Bread.

As a kid, watching as the cook at The Hamburger Train put my burger on the back of a model flatcar and sent it around the tracks to my place at the counter.

I'm already in In-N-Out country, and I enjoy NY burger pleasures often. I'd explore territory between the two — starting with New Mexico at green chile harvest time, for an in-depth study of green chile burgers and cheeseburgers.
