Cook the Book: 'Simple Fresh Southern'

My favorite Thanksgiving side would have to be my mom's sausage & chestnut stuffing. It's very moist and really rich!

Win Tickets To 'Cook. Eat. Drink. Live.' This Weekend

A job as a food writer or pastry cook and subscriptions to food magazines! I also wouldn't mind some new kitchen gadgets like the measuring cup that's also a scale. Ok--so maybe I'm asking a lot from Santa, but I've been good! :)

Five Guys. Not so much.

I've tried a Five Guys in DC (years ago, so I don't remember which one), the one in Brooklyn and one in Queens. The Queens one is by far much better. I also really liked the peanuts. And I don't get the regular fries, I go for the cajun fries which have a tad bit more flavor. If you're disappointed w/the fries, try those next time.

Are You a Night Baker?

I am DEFINITELY a night baker! I'd often come home from work or class (I just finished culinary school) and bake though the night. I really like that I get the kitchen to myself and that it's much cooler at night. Plus, since no one's around no one gets to see my mistakes but me!

What is your fantasy food business?

I'd love a bookshop/cafe that would also serve fresh baked goods. Ideally, I'd like for it to be in a college town so I could provide a place to study off campus and a place to hang out. On weekends, I'd like to have some local bands/musicians come in and play. As for what to serve, I'd do breakfast items like muffins, biscuits and scones. I'd offer a seasonal pie featuring locally grown fruits. And I'd also feature some cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal, spritz, checkerboard, madelines) and cupcakes. And customers could also special order items for events.

Conveyor Belt Sushi in Manhattan?

There's a place called East on Third Ave & 27th street. I've been there a few times and had good, fun experiences. :)
