I grew up in Upstate NY and had family in the Plattsburgh area. I have always loved Michigans from there. Last time I visited last summer I showed my bf what he's missing and we went to Michigans Plus and Ronnies. I still love Ronnies more, the sauce is sweeter there. At Michigans Plus the sauce is spicier.

I was a cook at a restaurant in Cambridge, MA. There were a few times that I was responsible for family meal. We always had a salad. The favorites would have to have been meatloaf, "fritata fridays", and chicken chili. We had a different menu on Sundays than on the rest of the week, so the chicken we used for Sunday could be used for family meal, (chicken chili, chicken salad, soup, stew) pretty much whatever the day prep cook felt like using the leftovers for. Leftovers never tasted so good!

My best baking experience would have to be when I made danish. I was so proud of myself for making the dough from scratch and filling them with fruit and cheese. I even glazed them with apricot glaze. They looked like they were store bought. Perfect little pinwheels of pastry.

Squash Blossoms

I've made them with goat cheese and herb filling. Then battered and deep-fried them. You could even do a fine dice of some veggies sauted and mixed with the cheese.
