@ Cary: Don't slice it like a pie, but slice it sideways so there is a top half and a bottom half, then take one of the halves and lay it rind-side up. The tartiflettes I enjoyed were made with a wheel of cheese about 8-12 inches in diameter. The cheese should melt to cover most of the potato slices. Bon appetit!
