The Best Ramen in New York City

Not in NY, but I had a bowl of ramen at Daikokuya in LA a couple of weeks ago and I am still having dreams about it. Wish I could find something comparable in Dallas!

It is indeed Shiner 101! Not a bad brew out of Spoetzl Brewery! They also produced a pretty decent Oktoberfest (Marzen) this year. Great town with great beer!

Serious Beer: Tasting Belgian Fruit Lambic

I admit that I like almost all kinds of beer. However, the missus and I took a trip to Ireland, Scotland, England and Paris a couple of years back and I have to say that some of the gueuze pulled out of beer engine in Paris were really a much needed quencher. For those who would dismiss beer as a monolithic group of beverages I would suggest trying some of these fine products. Even the Lindeman's at your local grocer can be quite impressive. Super hot and weary? Try a Lindeman's Pomme, you won't be disappointed!

This burger almost gives Wingfield's (also in Dallas) a run for its money - almost.... Both are great, though!!

Unique Food Trends: Houston, Texas

If you are passing through the area around Temple it is absolutely worth it to make the short side trip to Zabcikville and stop in Green's Sausage House for some klobasniky! I have lived in Houston and used to make the trip to Austin all the time for school. Weikels does have some good ones, but Green's are the best I have encountered so far (although even a bad one is good!).....
