Win Tickets To Edible Manhattan's Seaport Birthday Party
Do the truck vendors from the Red Hook ballfields count? Papusas = a party :-)
Cook the Book: 'Gourmet Today'
"In the Kitchen with Miss Piggy". Still have it. Still a favorite.
What to Eat at the Bon Appetit Pop-Up Cafe, Open This Week Only
I thought all items were stellar! I got the Heavenly Pizza, and it truly was heavenly. The Pumpkin Woopie Pie was unbelievable. Coffee was grand. Gold stars all around from this hungry lunch breaker. Can't WAIT to get the Vegetarian sandwich tomorrow!!
I think some of the Serious Eats reviewers are wee bit bitter. Enjoy the indulgence of eating a nice lunch out and with the help of celebrity chefs to boot! Of course things are not going to be as hot as it should be when catering to such an amount of people. It's expected. As is the queue of people. The buzz ... the energy ... the free wine. It's so much fun. Enjoy this one week experience for what it is.

Revani: Semolina cake in a honey-syrup. Apart from the sites, I'd fly to Istanbul just to eat my body weight in this.

Spaghetti Squash with Herbed Goat Cheese, Roasted Broccoli, and Parmesean shavings. Mmmm. Dinner leftovers.
New York City Wine and Food Festival: Ticket Giveaway, 'Pairing Like A Pro'
Hey! You cats didn't specify what type of steak ... so...If it's a salmon steak I'd pair it with an UrbanUco Torrontes from Mendoza. If it's a beef steak, I'd pair it with a Mark West Pinot Noir from California.
Cook the Book: '100 Best Vegetarian Recipes'
When I was in Italy I had a Parmesan Flan with roasted vegetables and Balsamic glaze. I think my exact words were "Oh my God", and having been a vegetarian for the past 14 years, those reactions are very special.
Cook the Book: 'The Barcelona Cookbook'
My birthday dinner after moving to NYC: Sharing tortillas and pitchers of (red and white) Sangria with friends in a basement tapas joint.
Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'
The veggie burger from Lucky's Burger in Hells Kitchen, NYC. It's crispy, flavorful, and the chipotle mayo is to die for.
What Are Your Favorite Italian Markets?
There's a beautiful one in the Chelsea Market, but nothing is better than the indoor market on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx.
Threadless T-Shirt Giveaway: Baron VonFunburger's Haunted Castle Cavalcade
The french fries from Checkers. Mmmm ... the seasoning ... the carbolicious potatoes ... I'm telling you, those fries could create world peace.

I'm a big roaster. It is the best way to eat your veggies. I like things that taste amazing with minimal ingredients. Honestly, I just like to get in and cook, really. Def in the summer, if not sooner, meem21 and cheeseman ... we should get our cookin' on.
The English Muffin Experiment: Homemade vs. Store-Bought
I really enjoyed this post. The curiosity kept me beeming until the end. I think all the readers were secretly rooting for the home-made. Thank goodness they won. This idea has also peaked my curiosity and has been a popular subject among a wide variety of cooking / food blogs. Is home-made, indeed, cheaper? Is it WORTH the time? Thanks for tapping into this popular subject for all budget-watching chefs.

The ultimate comfort food: pasta with sauteed garlic, olive oil, and big handful of grated cheese!
Stroopwafels for Queen's Day
I'm not sure how these differ from the one's from Holland, but VIVA MANHATTAN! Hot DOG these were good! Two come in a pack and I savored every morsel. Oh, the cinnamon sprinkle! Oh, the waffle deliciousness! I might have to go after work for a second helping.
Cook the Book: 'Tacos'
El Jug in Mexico City, D.F. No words, no words. Just pure deliciousness. Oh my gosh... I'm salivating at the memory.
Snapshots from Italy: Eating Well On the Cheap at Aperitivi Time
I love Aperitivi!! Seeing that photo makes me miss Milan SO bad. I hope you enjoyed a spritz as well! Aperol ALL the way. CIAO!
Coffee Top Caddy: Yea or Nay?
I think its great design. I really do. I agree with Tina_eats as it doesn't look very stable. I also agree with Mdotmet when they say it's a wee bit wasteful. I think it should be an option for people on the go. They shouldn't provide it to EVERYONE. Regulars I'm sure would be more opt to spring for the regular lid. But for people that have far distances to walk, I'm all for it. Interns, look out!
Cook the Book: ''Wichcraft'
How about a dessert sandwich? Pumpkin Pie, anyone? Gingerbread with pumpkin puree and a spiced cream cheese spread. Maybe even grill it like a grilled cheese on the stove.
Tex-Mex in NYC?
Arriba Arriba! 51st and 9th. SUPER YUMMY.
Vacation Cooking
Mac and Cheese!! Easy, budget friendly, and ALWAYS the top of everyone's list.
Breakfast Porridges at the Jamaican Dutchy Cart
This cart was not there when I went hunting this morning for my wednesday plantain porridge. It was my first time going. I scoped every nook and cranny. Went two blocks in every direction from 51st and 7th. Nada. I hope this is still around, but I'm sad and hungry.
Cook the Book: 'Beyond the Great Wall'
I remember taking the Green line subway in Mexico CIty, D.F. to the end. There, you will find a massive bus depot / market. Total chaos. I had to find my bus headed for a drop off at a Mayan pyramid site. There were 2 busses. I chose the second because it looked like it had more character. Plastic trinkets hanging in front, the whole deal. We're on the highway and I see the other bus continuing on as our bus makes a turn. Obviously we're the local bus, the other, express. We were weaving in and out of small villages, minding chickens that were in the way, burros, everything one could think of. We arrive at the site and I look over at the other bus parked in the lot. The "express". I laugh, shake my head, but am glad I got the REAL tour of the Mexican city outskirts.
The English Muffin Experiment: Homemade vs. Store-Bought
As an American expat living in the Netherlands, I've had a serious jones for English muffins these past years - but you can't get them here! You can't imagine how much I've missed Eggs Benedict all this time. I already make a mean Hollandaise, and now I have the English muffin recipe I've been waiting for!

If anyone's ever been to the gutter in brooklyn (200 N. 14th St. in Wburg), they have a huge bar area and they allow you to bring in outside food (and have a great selection of beer). My friends had a potluck there around thanksgiving 2007 (they made a turkducken) and a ton of people made sides. you can even bowl, though that's cash only. When I went with my friends around sunday afternoon (from 2-6), it wasn't too crowded either.
