Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

My favorite cut is the chain from a beef tenderloin... I've made the best steak sandwiches of my life from that little bit of deliciousness hidden in all that connective tissue.

My favorite is a Aux Lyonnais, Ducasse's brasserie by the old Opera.

Super nice service, amazing food and for a crowded little brasserie great ambiance.

I also enjoyed Pinxo, and the King of Hotpots, can't remember the French name, Le Roi du Hotpot au Feu?

'Waiter Rant': The Giveaway

The best service I have ever received at a restaurant was The Sardine Factory in Monterey.

My wife and I were there on our honeymoon and wanted a nice meal out. We're not dress up for dinner type people, so I called ahead and they said jeans and a nice shirt would be fine.

Once we got there, we were greeted as though we were family by the incredibly friendly maitre'd who greeted us with a warm "Welcome Home", and sat us at an awesome table in their aviary dome thing. He made me sit with my back to the wall so that "the lady could have the wonderful view" of the trees outside.

Our waiter, Sunny, was incredibly patient with us as we dissected the menu, made insightful suggestions, and attended to our every need. This is the only place I've ever been given a chilled salad fork.

Nothing that was super above and beyond, but I have to say, from entry to exit, the most consistent, and best service I've ever had in a restaurant.

Gordon Ramsay Is Not a Jerk; He Just Plays One on American TV

Funny you mention this... I love the British Ramsey, not so much the FOX version.

I was watching the Charlie Rose interview with Thomas Keller posted on SE recently and Rose asked Keller about Ramsey... his response included a comment about how it was too bad that Ramsey's legacy would be defined by his TV persona rather than his ability as a chef, which Keller lauded.

Gordon Ramsay Is Not a Jerk; He Just Plays One on American TV

I think Ramsey is a real jerk. I was watching an episode of "The F Word" on BBC America. During the opening he introduced the two new chefs in the kitchen. One he described as " ...a 22 year old American girl from Los Angeles". Then, right after saying that, one can hear Ramsey's voice overdubbed saying "Unfortunately". Like the jerk added the insult in the editing room!

I thought about if for a second and then deleted all his shows from my DVR, and all future recordings. If the Scottish twit wants to pick on American girls, he can kiss my ass. What a freakin' loser.

Been in Colorado since '91, miss the Millridge Inn on Long Island and the Sirloin Tips in sauce. Don't need a knife...bit size morsels of tenderness!

Bone in cowboy rib eye. I've even had a bone in buffalo rib eye recently, to die for!

for me, there is nothing tastier than a ribeye, but I always order t-bone so my dog can have a nice bone too.

Call me a cheap date, but I prefer a sirloin.
But, I would not turn town a filet, either;)
