The Next Food Network Star, Episode 7 Recap: Paula Deen in Vegas Edition
I feel it's rigged. There is no way that Lisa should have made it this far. She is rude, bossy, controlling and unpleasant in every way. If she wins there is no doubt.
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
Ugh, Lisa is awfull. I haven't been able to stand her since the begining. I love this show and have watched them all including The next Iron chef, (LOVE Symon, btw) and I WOULD NEVER EVER watch a show with her. She's rude, demading, bossy, overly emotional and I'm sorry, but I hate her look. In a package, she's a complete bitch to her competitors and judges. I don't understand why she is still there and they got rid of Kelsey and Shane. If she wins I will have no choice to believe it was a rigged compititon.

Unattractive and talentless women are very good at spewing hatred. Lisa is the moral winner. Aaron was inarticulate, boring and his food was unimaginative and uninspiring. I and my GF love lisa and her restaurant.

Some vegetables love sandy soil so what's your point?
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
She wants to have a farm on the beach? Does she have any idea how vegetables grow?

I think Lisa is a beautiful, intelligent young woman who is knowledgable about food and is an excellent cook. I have to say that I am surprised at how nasty so many people are when posting about her. It kind of freaks me out that a cooking show host contest can generate so much poison.
I commend all the contestants. Some have far more stage presence than others, but all brought something unique to the show and all, it appears, are good cooks.
It may not be commonplace to see ladies wearing designer clothes and shoes in the kitchen, but the lady turned out wonderful food without getting a spot on her clothing. We could all take a lesson from her. It isn't a sin to look nice in the kitchen (or anywhere for that matter). Beats the heck out of jeans and flip flops all the time.

I also signed up just to comment. Although my choice was Aaron, and I did not care for Lisa, I'm kind of disappointed in the venom that is being spewed her way by the bloggers. Between viewing comments from blogs on a few sites, it's frightening how many people are downright hating! Poor Aaron appears to be really getting it from so many sides which is okay if it's an opinion; but so much of it's racial epithets! viewers, it's disgraceful! Let's stop such hatred and nastiness because we don't agree with a choice, or with what a person should look like. Let's try to embrace diversity, and Ha! Ha! ,women cooking in the kitchen with high heels and expensive blouses! Lighten up, good people !

Aaron is now the winner and he has Lisa to think. She saved his bacon in the this show by reminding him to do the chicken parm. Funny, because in an earlier show she completely ignored Kelsey's simple question because she didn't want to give any aid to the competition. Maybe this was Lisa trying to soften her image, as the judges kept telling her. If so, she may have shot herself in the foot. Hope Aaron sends her a dozen roses out of his FN salary.

I have to wonder, why would any chef wear designer anything, high heels? Nooooooooo, that is insane!! At least wear a chefs coat to protect clothing. Her hair reminds me of the child book by Beverly Cleary, Beazus and Ramona, she looks like the little sister Ramona, exact same hair style (bowl cut). Some of her dresses remind me of June Cleaver of Leave It To Beaver, to the hilt, Lisa even wears a pearl necklace that was Barbara Billingsby's trademark on the show. I was in shock (and delight) when Paula Deen, PAULA DEEN people hated her mac & cheese, come on Paula deep fries butter balls, for her to HATE Lisa's mac & cheese? But who I was so happy to be eliminated was Kelsey, her squeaky voice made me want to run (not walk ) to the nearest bar around and drink till the ringing in my ears stop!!

The anonymity on the Internet is a dangerous thing. You all vent all of your anger on the world and your jealousy through a public anonymous forum where no one else can judge you. You are all cowardly and horrible people to be capable of publicy bashing anyone to this extreme.
The Food Network really needed a female personality with actual talent and a good fashion sense. Someone that makes cooking look attractive and modern again. Someone that makes REAL FOOD. I'm so mad that we're going to have yet another show on how to make unhealthy, easy meals like Mac and Cheese or lasagna. Go ahead and feed your obsesity America.

TO BBSHOO about Lisa Garza --- "women who simply cannot measure up to her? Are you kidding??? Why would any of us intelligent women want to measure themselves up to somebody that acts the way she does? She comes across on tv as self-absorbed, annoying, anal, and intense (and not in a good way). Yeah, she may be pretty - nobody is doubting that. Her food may be the most wonderful, but that alone doesn't make a Food Network Star. Most of the comments are about her persona. Nobody wants to look at a Food Network star who doesn't come across as warm and endearing, of which she seems to have neither personality trait! Alot of times, she seemed to be more concerned about how she looked and making sure she wore a designer dress & shoes. Did you not hear what she said about Aaron's win? I quote, "I'm so glad Aaron won - he needed this..." What? How about "He deserved this win". And if she had won, what would she have said about herself? "Well, I do deserve this to prove that I can cook, blah, blah, blah (snore.....). So, next time you decide to tell us women that most of us don't measure up, think again. We're not even trying because we don't wish to be stepford wives, thank you! No sour grapes here!!
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
I'm glad Lisa didn't win. She seems to have more of a passion for fashion than for food. Even though she was prompted in her exit interview, she stated how she was wearing a Carolina Herrera dress. Anyway, I wouldn't have watched her show because she annoyed the heck out of me during the entire run of this season. I'm glad Aaron won, although Adam could have won and I would have been just as happy - I'd watch either one of them. They both seem very personable, are nice to look at, and bring something special to the screen.

having been in the business for over 40 yrs,I find it hard to take anyone seriously that wears heels and nice clothes in a kitchen. Plus, just when I thought no one could be more obnoxiuous than Bobby Flay, here comes LISA!!!!
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
I think Lisa is a fine lady. I sense the sour grapes coming primaririly from women who simply cannot measure up to her. And who know it. Too bad. I'm glad Lisa made it to the final and I really wanted her to win. Her restaurant in Dallas is excellent, BTW. I drove from Austin with my GF just to check it out and we were not disappointed.

I signed up just to comment on here myself. I don't know what in the world these judges are thinking. I have a hard time watching her on this show let alone tune into a weekly show with someone like her. We don't need another Martha Stewart. Someone on the panel needs to get a clue what people will watch and I can't imagine it will be her unless that is what they are hoping. They want a winner that will have such poor ratings they can cancel them after only a few shows.
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
I signed up just to comment here! I watch this show with my husband and though I complain about Lisa every week, I feel I need another area to whine about why she is STILL there. Does anybody else agree that she:
1. Often looks like she is about to completely LOSE it? She's often crying and almost always has a tense and disagreeable look on her face. I can't image her softening up on any show.
2. Has an obnoxious "culinary point of view"? "Beautiful basics"? PLEASE.
3. Seems like she will be a complete diva?
She might have cooked up some great tasting food, but she's consistently had a poor camera performance. What else is more important on a TV show? I am so frustrated she's still there! (My life is otherwise very simple and that is why I choose to obsess over insignificant things like this. :)
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
I finally figured it out....Star Trek Romulan hair do. Mormon cult dressmaker. Even if she can cook & talk on camera at the same time the rest of the package is just too darn distracting, PERFECT for Food Network!
OK...Who's Going to WIN NFNS....Adam, Aaron or Lisa?
I hope it is Lisa, she has the most to offer, and can cook up a storm. Go Lisa!
OK...Who's Going to WIN NFNS....Adam, Aaron or Lisa?
Snap pea out of it, my friends!--Lisa can't change enough to make an appealing FN icon...but that doesn't mean she won't win.
Here is my pitiful cry into the wild: Please, please God, don't let it be Lisa. Yet, I suspect and fear it will be Lisa, solidifying my fears that success is almost never merit-based, but rests on a number of other random factors, including iconic hair, inflexibility, the snake-like female ability to cry on cue, and complete predictability.
I don't think she's "warmed up" at all--in fact I think she's just as inaccessible, out-of-touch and Vulcan-like as she was from the first.
I have a theory about all of this. She is the classic example of the failed redemption story none of us can get enough of but makes FANTASTIC media.
http://www.happyhoarfrost.blogspot.com/2008/07/next-food-network-starcan-lisa-change.html
As to her cooking chops--they're nice, but we all know they're not the main qualifier here. The only reason she is still standing is because FN needs her around to fascinate us.
True, I am bitter she is near Bobby Flay repeatedly, and I am not. If Captain Capsicum can't melt a girl's stoic exterior, what can?
I'm an Adam fan though, if I must.
The Next Food Network Star, Episode 7 Recap: Paula Deen in Vegas Edition
Oh, I have some serious eatsian theories on this one...my primary theory is that Lisa is going to win this thing, simply because she CAN'T change.
The only thing we love more than a redemption story is a FAILED redemption story.
http://www.happyhoarfrost.blogspot.com/2008/07/next-food-network-starcan-lisa-change.html
I'm tired of things--and people--which are sub-par and utterly contrived being presented as the only options.
OK...Who's Going to WIN NFNS....Adam, Aaron or Lisa?
God they all suck, at least Lisa and Adam aren't boring. Adam can't cook, I guess that leaves Lisa...
The Next Food Network Star's Lisa Garza: Love Her or Hate Her?
If Liza Godzilla wins, I will never watch. I thought Rory was irritating last year but this rich you know what makes me ill with her "Pucci Shoes." I feel sorry for her child (who she says has a sophisticated palate) because the poor child probably has never tasted any childhood foods. I don't like people who look down their noses at others and that exactly what she does!
The Next Food Network Star, Episode 7 Recap: Paula Deen in Vegas Edition
You know what is really sad.......the fact that we all vent about the quality of the "new" shows the FN is producing, and yet despite our ramblings.....they just mass produce even more of the same rubbish. They "don't care" about the "quality" of their "recent" offerings or the culinary "talent" of their stars, it's all about drawing an audience and the advertising dollars. I thought Anthony Bourdain's harsh appraisal of the FN was initially uncalled for. NOW I'm his biggest supporter!

Um, is it me or does Paula Deen get creepier and creepier looking by the minute? I'm just sayin'!
