What should I buy at Trader Joe's?
In my TJ cart is usually Niman Ranch applewood smoked bacon, hummus quartet, some sort of trail mix or dried fruit, prosciutto, two buck chuck (wine), and then I impulse buy.

Anything pasta is porn to me. If SE posts a pasta recipe without a picture, I feel really let down.
I also love Lidia's Family Table. Lush pics of garden and food, bright natural looking light, and the feel of summertime. And of course plenty of pasta.

@ Pumpkin and Rebecca - Yes! I love tastespotting. That and SE are my two main food sites. @Chiff and Hammond- I'd been amazon eyeing The French Laundry. Looks like another addition to the porn pile.
Jeez, it never ends.
In a recent fit of getting rid of things I do not need, I culled through my cookbooks. I had, like, over 200 of them, many of which I never used, so I ended up getting rid of over a hundred of them. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Great for my friends, but not great for me. I don't know what gets in to me sometimes. So now the burning need to replace said books with 100 new and different ones. I won't do that, at least not immediately, but I figure I'm adding to it at about one a week (save birthdays and holidays - my friends know what I like :-x . )

Hot Sour Salty Sweet has always been my "ooh ahh" book to flip through and read when I had it. It's not so much Hustler as it is Playboy. I cannot think of a bad comment for this book - content-wise and aesthetics. I'll probably pick up another copy some time soon because I miss it so much, as well as another cookbook made by the same folks, Mangoes & Curry Leaves. Some time in the not so distant future, I'll pick up their other books,Seductions of Rice and Home Baking.

The Trader Joe's in my "area" is not really convenient to visit. But, on my last trip to TJ, I was gifted with their signature TJ re-usable sack. I am very proud to have received this gift. I was in a silly mood and was mentally caught up in a Seinfeld episode. The one where Elaine danced. We were in the frozen food isle and apparently, my "performance" was observed by several TJ employees. And The Award Goes To?................................

Browse the freezer section! Most things are surprisingly good. TJs bread with Lemon Curd is fantastic. I love snacking on almost all of their dried fruit.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in GR, Michigan, and I am TJ-less. So sad. Have fun! Shopping there is always exciting! ^_^

@cybercita -- oh gawd, you tried that nasty rooibos stuff too?? i don't even know what to do with it. i'd be wasteful if i throw it out, delusional if i drink another one, mean if i give it to a friend, and just a plain ass if i donate it to charity.
but i'll probably try tj's tea again. maybe plainer varieties. just b/c i'm a sucker for them :(

I wish a Trader Joes was opening near me. sigh....I have my mom ship me the Trader Joes brand cream shave- in mango vanilla-(similar to Alba brands cream shave) I realize it's not really food related but wow (!!) is is great stuff and smells DELICIOUS!
