I just thought of one... Nothing fishy about it

I hate fish... so there will be no fish recipes... but I don't think that represents what i want it to... hmm...

wisdom teeth out this morning: food suggestions?

Oh gosh... Ice Cream Ice Cream Ice Cream! Seriously.. The cold helps with the swelling and it was about the only thing I could eat. I got mine out right before Christmas and tried to gnaw on christmas ham... but then I was picking out pieces of ham out of the teeth sockets...

I loved the excuse to eat nothing but ice cream... so go ahead... splurge on all sorts of flavors! (just nothing with small candy pieces...)

Thank you for all the great ideas... I'm going to ponder on them a while longer and I will let you all know... =)

What do you mean about including my initials? My initials are AA ....anything?

that's cute... Why did everyone get some part of the creative gene except me??!

@katydid, where did you come up with yogurt cultures being bad for healing? everything I find for wisdom teeth removal encourages it to prevent nausea.

wisdom teeth out this morning: food suggestions?

Wow, I must have been lucky when I had mine out a million years ago. After the happy pills wore off that day, I ate scrambled eggs, but the next day the only problem was that I couldn't open my mouth very far. Apparently a jaw muscle had been wounded during the procedure. I can remember trying to eat a sandwich, but I couldn't get my mouth open that far, so I had to flatten it.

i tried to eat mac & cheese. i popped stiches trying to chew. not a good thing. anything cold will help with the swelling and pain. stay away from grilled cheese also. not pretty.

wow, thanks everyone! yesterday was pretty bad, I could only down a Mango smoothie my mom bought me from Trader Joes, but today only half of my face is still horribly swollen so I think I'll be able to take some of your suggestions! thanks a bunch, it's so great knowing there's a whole online community here to support you. =)

don't use a straw! dry sockets are terrifyingly bad.

i stuck to a popsicle diet after my extraction.

There's a market nearby that just takes a ton of veggies and herbs and boils them down a bit, and blends the heck out of it. If you can think of a veg, it's in there, along with some apples and mint. Reeaally good.

Avoid caffeine and anything with *particles*.

I ate lo mein the day I had my wisdom teeth out, after the gas had worn off. Then I had a Percocet and couldn't eat anything but jello for days.

Make yourself a super soft (therefore slightly overcooked) macaroni and cheese! I lived on mac and cheese during my wisdom teeth recovery.

Simple omelets (cheese, chives, nothing too chuncky or astringent)
Soft boiled or scrambled eggs
Souffle if you're up whipping one up.
Egg salad
Fritatta or crustless quiche
Cheese blintzes
Cottage cheese with soft fruits, cut small (canned peaches. etc.)
Mashed potatoes with gravy.
Baked sweet potatoes. (mashed up)
Tamales
Smoothies.
Ripe banana cut into small pieces (with a little honey and cream)
Greek yougurt with honey
Saute'd zucchini over small pastas (orzo, etc.). Cook the pasta in broth or stock for added flavor. Add a splash of wine. Sprinkle some parmesan on top.
Pasta with garlic, ricotta cheese and vegetables cooked very soft.
Baked tilapia or other soft fleshed fish.
Poached salmon
Soft cheese spreads with very finely pureed vegetables and garlic blended in. Mix with rice, small pasta or serve on soft bread.
Cream of wheat
Polenta
Grits
Smooth peanut butter on soft bread or in a dipping sauce
Pate

Jello (I know...but it will taste good for now and feels cool in your mouth)
Popsicles

Stick with pureed soups until you can close your swollen jaws. You have my sympathy.

Like everyone else has mentioned-- Stay away from acids (tomatoes, oranges), seeds (sesame, popcorn, strawberries, rasberries), crusty breads, etc. Nothing too hot (temp. wise). Warm is not the best, best it's much easier for your gum pain. (Learned the hard way- yikes)

thought of another one

put your name in front of dishes. it is a pun on words as they are the dishes you make plus the the dishes you clean after cooking/eating.

www.anniesdishes.com or dothedishes.com

now you got me all excited with names. let us know what you decide.
