Daily Slice: Little Luzzo's Campagna Slice, Upper East Side

Does anyone know anything about the new Luzzo's spin-off that's opening in Tribeca? They have presumptiously named it Da Mikele, a rip-off, I presume, of the legendary Da Michele in Naples (which in my humble opinion is still the best pizza I've ever tasted).

Midtown Manhattan Pizzeria Suggestions?

Naples 45 serves up a good neopolitan-esque pie (and slices) if you are by Grand Central, though its a pretty corporate crowd.

Openings: Second Grimaldi's Location in Hoboken, New Jersey

Does anyone have any idea when the Grimaldi's is supposed to open up in the Limelight? I walked past the place last week and still no sign of it. I thought it was scheduled to open sometime last spring!?

Dear Slice: Where Can I Find a Good Grandma Slice in Long Island/NYC?

Emilio's in Commack serves up a pretty solid grandma slice and a killer sicilian slice.

Old News to You, New News to Me

Just checked out Olio Pizze e Piu last night and if opening day is any indication of how good their pizzas are, they will surely give Keste a run for its money in terms of Neopolitan pies. The diavola pie rivals the sopresatta pie at Motorino as best in my book!

'Kick-Ass' Artichoke Slice at Newly Opened Previti in Midtown

Went to Previti today for lunch and agree wholeheartedly with ML. The place was packed (presumably from the writeups online) and they didn't seem to have their system down. However, the ingredients were excellent - great sicilian margherita, the artichoke slice is a classier version of Artichoke's, and the roasted pepper slice was average.

Does Pizza Pub in Gramercy count? They have all kinds of drinks + terrible pizza specials.

Artichoke, a Crisis of Conscience, and Some Tough Questions

So, last night must have been Amateur Night at Artichoke; a total clown show. I walked in and the place was packed with drunken college kids making a ruckus. Unfortunately they remained there for a good 15 minutes b/c apparently it takes a half-hour for these guys to actually pump out a pie. During my ridiculously long wait (note - I'm not opposed to long waits for good pizza s/a Di Fara, but...) the place started filling up with smoke. It was no doubt due to the fact that they were liberally throwing flour into the oven to ensure the pizzas didn’t stick to the stone. These guys don't know how to maintain an oven at all. Eventually everyone had to leave the shop b/c nobody could breathe (including two of the workers). Once I finally got my Sicilian slice I was quite disappointed. Like other commentators have noted, it was definitely burnt on the bottom. Although, I must say, the Sicilian slice is much better than the original whose massive amounts of cheese overpower the pizza. It’s all about balance. These guys don't have any of it.
