What food(s) did you love as a kid and now can't stand?

Jello cheesecake - I was worried they would quit making it by the time I grew up...bleccchhhhh! couldn't stand a bite of it now.
Butterscotch on ice cream
ham spread - I think I would vomit now if I tried it

New York-Style Pizza at Denver's Fuhgidabowdit

Hey, quit dissing Colorado...you can't have everything! Abo's has great pizza (true NY style) they are in Boulder and several other locations along the front range, and another great pizza is at Mezzaluna (only in Vail and Aspen but worth it if you are there). Sorry, get cranky that folks on the east coast don't think anyone in Colorado knows good food.

'Top Chef' Season 5, Episode 9: 'It Amused My Bouche'

And the judges said the ribs were good, weren't they Hosea's ?

Cook the Book: 'The Great Wings Book'

Mango habanero dip with tortilla chips and hot wing dip!

I think sausage patties too, the other black item is a steak I think?

Thanksgiving Salad?

Well I guess I have a weird family, all the salad gets eaten! I have made one similar to Esmeralda's with great success, and am going to try one like Maggiano's Chopped Salad- bacon/pancetta crumbles over greens with red onions, tomato & avocado and a homemade viniagrette. There are several versions online and most include blue cheese but it could easily be left off- I have added some honey almonds in as well, and I bet crumbled hard boiled egg would be yummy too.

Sweet Potato Fries -- Who Likes These Things?

I never liked them until I had them CRISPY at a restaurant in Longmont Colorado. YUMMMM. Now I can't get enough. Prefer them to regular fries even!!

Dinner Tonight: Barack Obama's Chili

Sweetnicks tried it and said it was not good, no spice, very bland.
That is because we elected a smoker with no tastebuds.

Types of Pizza-Crust Eaters

The honey is the way to go...Beau Jo's is in Idaho Springs, CO but they also have a Fort Collins and used to have a South Denver location...their whole wheat crust with the honey is drool worthy, especially after a day of skiing/snowshoeing/hiking in the mtns
;0)

Do You Know How Much You Really Spend on Food?

I am single and have been winging it...just decided not to do that anymore after watching "Unwrapped" on Food Network. They did a spot on "the Grocery Game" dot com site. I am giving it a try to save some bucks.

Essentials: Feeding Your Friends (With Migas)

My two go-to meals are: Beef Bourguignon with mashed potatoes (all stuff you can make ahead, just heat it up, have some wine & a green salad) or a fabulous pot of green chile with fresh tortillas/chips ...have some refried beans or beef handy, and the usual tomato, sour cream and cheese so anyone can make a burrito/ taco/tostada combination if they want. And extra hot sauce! (The green chile recipe is from an awesome restaurant in New Mexico, and I add two bags of spinach)

Cook the Book: Grill Every Day

Not very patriotic, but a sweet potato, red bell pepper, onion and pineapple grilled salad is my favorite!

What food(s) did you love as a kid and now can't stand?

I have memories of enthusiastically noshing on Twinkies, Fruity Pebbles and Pop Tarts as a kid.

I don't remember what it was like to enjoy them. I just have isolated memories of happily eating those noxious products.

Now, the weirdly vitamin-esque dusty artificial smell of Fruity Pebbles is enough to nauseate me.

From Talk

What food(s) did you love as a kid and now can't stand?

@orangeobsession--clearly the three of us could have done a 'Galloping Gourmet' show on how to cook zee Pop Tarts in different ways. I don't know what I would have done if there had been the ones you freeze when I was a kid. Thank goodness, otherwise I would have had one toasting, one freezing, and one 'raw.'

I never kept mine warm, though, I always bit into it right out of the toaster. You'd think that singeing my mouth would have turned me off of them straight away but NOOOOO.....

From Talk

What food(s) did you love as a kid and now can't stand?

I used to love fake Mac & Cheese (sorry Kraft) probably because my mom refused to buy it. Now I find it rather gross and much prefer mac and cheese made from scratch with good pasta and lots of real, fresh cheese.

From Talk

What food(s) did you love as a kid and now can't stand?

I used to eat peanut butter on hotdogs. I still love peanut butter, but no longer eat hotdogs, and the thought of the two together is pretty ick-inducing.

I basically only ate meat as a kid. Now I've been a vegetarian for five years. There you go.

I'm back from Colorado and as promised here's a link to the photos I took while at Marco's last evening:

I usually let my photos speak when it comes to reviews, but I will add in this case that the quality of Marco's pies and the overall dining experience surpassed my relatively high expectation level. Marco's pizza is real deal Napoletana, well deserving of their VPN designation. Just check out those little char speckles for evidence. The staff were very accomodating and gracious while I snapped away and discussed all things pizza with them. I strongly encourage anyone who resides in or is visiting the area to check them out and judge for yourself. Here's the link again:

I am with the previous posters on Buenos aries Pizza & Marcos Coal Fired Pizza- hooray for Denver. Anthony's varies from location to location.

Hey Bialy- Did you know you could get Bialy's in Denver (maybe it's considered Glendale) Monaco & Leetsdale- next to the Hobby Lobby- thought you'd want to know if you didn't already.

One of my favorite things for the superbowl is a taco dip from the Jewel store deli. It is kindof pricey, but the dip is so good and I wouldn't be able to make it for less than that at home. THanks for the giveaway!

Seriously, I could make a list of everything that I love to eat and everything on that list would be too fattening, to high in cholesterol, to spicy, and so on. It is easy, like the folks who only eat orange food, etc, if I like it and want to eat it, it is absolutely forbidden, food-wise. I am not ill or anything, but, I have been slowly and steadily gaining weight for the past several years and I can see where the path is leading, so I am on the "Lupinea Diet", again, if I like it or if it sounds good to me, you cannot eat it, it is absolutely forbidden. I don't think I will become rich with my new "Lupinea Diet", don't you agree with me? Lupinea@aol.com
