Tortilla chips and Pineapple salsa. It is my lifeblood.
Food Critic and Friend Assaulted After Dinner
Being an Albany native, I know the soon-to-be-opened restaurant and the location. It is not unsafe in any way, shape or form. There is a TGI Fridays right across the lot (about 50 feet away) that is always bustling with people.
From the description, it sounds like this was targeted. A bad review? Maybe. But a 20s white male with a shaved head and a large build? He also mentioned that he was out with his "friend" Josh?
Not to imply anything or draw unnecessary conclusions, but this could have easily been some form of skinhead gay-bashing.

Agree with the above sentiment for the most part. But since I am cheap and poor.... I will attack the lower end of the spectrum...
Ben's Chili Bowl is a must. Ben's Next Door is solid but you lose the atmosphere of the extreme dive that is Ben's.
Ray's Hell Burger - Rosslyn/Court House area in Arlington. Serious dive, but the best burger I have ever had. Awesome joint and will run you about $10 a person.
Ray's the Steaks - Court House - very solid steakhouse with very competitive prices. Big fan.
Martin's Tavern in Georgetown, Old Ebbitt Grill by the White House... these are the "traditional" DC spots. JFK proposed to Jackie in Martin's and Ebbitt is a notorious power-broker spot.
I'm also a big fan of this family of restaurants - Ten Penh (asian), ceiba (latin american), acadiana (louisiana), dc coast (seafood) - pretty competitive in pricing and good food, good atmosphere. They're all downtown location-wise.
