It's been a struggle! I have gotten to love mushroom barley soup. The hardest is brown rice--I have hated it for 40 years, and haven't changed my mind.
Sauteed spinach with garlic, vinegar and pepper flakes--exactly what I hated as a child.
I've made some things from the hors d'ouvres book, but mostly I just drool over the gorgeous pictures!
Crispy, but not so much that it breaks apart when you bite it and before it all gets in your mouth. Also, bacon wrapped around ANYTHING is the best!
Mmmm, ham. On a french roll with dilled havarti, lettuce, and plenty of sharp mustard. Wrap it and eat out in nature somewhere.
I'm with the fried oyster po'boy lovers!
A real bagel with cream cheese, lox, tomato and red onion. Here in San Francisco, I cry every time I think about what I'm missing!

sweet sweet quinoa (although technically that's a seed, and not a grain. so if i were being technical, i'd say the humble yet delicious brown rice)
I just found out about quinoa, so I think that would be an interesting addition.
