@KTempesta: I tested FF3 on Mac and PC, and could not reproduce the problem you're experiencing. I have to agree with Adam -- perhaps you are clicking on the "x comments" link, which, by design, takes you immediately to the comments on a post.

New York vs. New Jersey on 'How I Met Your Mother'

@VerasTastyFreeze: New York is, in some ways, defined by culinary landmarks. When challenged as to why one should live in New York, some of the only legitimate reasons are the food.

First Taste: Motorino Pizza Is Awesome

Wow! For a first post on here you really slammed them ( I'ld be pissed if I was a hostess / Server here ) Is it maybe that you just don't like that style?
I've never been to either location and visually I like the look, but have heard from others that the dough was bland and that they had issues with balanced cooking. Reviews of the service in Brooklyn seem to have been less than favorable also.Maybe peoples expectations of pizzerias are equal to that of all restaurants these days? Time will tell. Did you return your food? Were you offered anything else?

First Taste: Motorino Pizza Is Awesome

Motorino in the East Village opened this week. I had never been to the original outpost in Brooklyn but read many good reviews so we were looking forward to the opportunity to experience Motorino pizza in the City. It was hands down the worst pizza experience we have every had. You can get a better pizza in any slice shop in the City. The restaurant is small, loud and has no atmosphere. The chairs are so close together that the slightly overweight hostesses and servers have to constantly interrupt you and ask you to move your chair so they can move about the room. The service was horrible and the pizzas were worse - it took over 45 minutes for the pizzas to arrive at the table and when we questioned why our order was taking so long we were told that the computer went down. There are only about 15 tables in the shop - not sure what the computer has to do with the long wait for the pizza. The sauce on the sopressato pizza was so salty and bitter that I could not even eat it. The crust wasn't thoroughly cooked and the whole thing was watery and soggy. The yellow squash pizza with pancetta was flavorless - tasted like a mound of melted cheese and had 3 small sage leaves. Don't believe the hype and do yourself a favor - pick up a slice and save yourself the time and the money.

Paula Deen Is Trying to Kill Us, Part 4: Bacon, Doughnut, Egg Burger

New York Times had Donut Pudding printed a few weeks ago. Made it twice and pased it around to friends. Made more raspberry jelly for the second batch and doubled the # of donuts for a really large pan. If you decide to make some kind of donut thing, don't use Dunkin Donuts. They don't have enough jelly in them unless you are driving and eating a donut with the other hand. You can order big ones from the Stop & Shop. Frozen dough, sure but they hold a lot of jelly and when you add cream, eggs and sugar. Yum.

sadly, you have to eat this with a fork and the cone gets all soggy because of the steam. it's an interesting concept, but not one that was totally thought out.

The Phaal Challenge at Brick Lane Curry House: Spiciest Curry Ever?

My sister and I did the P'haal challenge today. We each finished in about 20, maybe 25 minutes. She was sweating and her eyes were tearing. I didn't sweat but I actually had two bouts of dizziness, my hands shook a little and my ears clogged up for about two minutes towards the end. But we got through it pretty easily. Our trick was not to touch the water or any drink at ALL. The only thing we added was maybe 1/4 of the rice bowl.

MY trick was to save the chicken for the end. The sauce did NOT soak into the chicken and by the end the temperature had gone down considerably, so the chicken almost had a cooling effect.

I do NOT recommend anyone does this at the 53rd St. location - they don't have a liquor license so they gave us a coupon for a free beer...which we can redeem down on 6th St. So we have to go to the Village anyway. That was a big disappointment. They also didn't take our picture - we have to email it to the guy in the Village.

Slice Walk: Park Slope

Paulie, the Artichoke slice did look good, and the toppings were very much so.....but man, the crust on mine was nearly hard enough to be able to bury the edge of the slice into someone's noggin!

Even still, it was a good slice. With a more pliant crust it would have given Dom a run for the money. I'll be sure to check out New Park Pizza next time I'm up in NYC. Thanks for the tip. --PB

@pizzablogger From looks alone, I'd vote for the slice from Artichoke. I've had one too and I found it to be very similar to DiFara. And the wait was shorter. But the pizzaiolo didn't have the charm of Gepeto. If you would have conferred with me prior to your journey I would have sent you to my favorite slice joint, New Park Pizza in Howard Beach. Here's my favorite slice shot:

Adam, this was such a timely issue. Along with having already scoped out the Brooklyn pizza map, this article really sealed the deal for me going to Tomato & Basil when I was planning my day long journey.

As with every place I went to, I went to the counter and simply ordered a "slice". What I was given at T&B looks a little different than what you got, but it sure was a tasty slice. Thanks again!

I stumbled upon Tomato and Basil last weekend as I was coming out of the subway on my way to a birthday party. I was very hungry and went in to get a quick slice and a Coke, and it was soooo good I had to order a second slice. I don't get in to that neighborhood often, but when I do a stop at T&B will be the first order of business.
