Where should we eat in DC in December?

We don't really have a preference. Three of us are up for anything but we have one that is picky. As long as she can get fish somewhere then we're fine.

Obelisk has popped up a few times but I was a bit worried because I couldn't find a website. It is definitely going on the short list.

Has anyone tried Marcel's? Their menu looks good but I don't hear anyone talking about it so I wasn't sure.

What Gross Food Stuff Did You Do as a Kid?

In school I would dip my pizza in ranch dressing. I don't recall it being gross but I'm always given a strange look when I mention it.

I still eat mayo in my black eyed peas and I dip Doritos in french onion dip.

My partner and her sister used to eat sandwiches consisting of bologna, ham, cabbage, peanut butter, mustard, pickles, tomato, miracle whip, bbq loaf and cheese. Turkey sandwiches always had to be in this order "white bread, mustard, turkey, american cheese, peanut butter, white bread"

They also to this day eat peanut butter on their hamburgers.

Lord help us if we have children!

Lotus Siam will be the answer you get from almost anyone so I'd definitely try it.

We ate at Sage and D.O.C.G. when we were in Vegas in August and we loved them both. We had the chef's menu at Sage and we enjoyed every course immensely.

At D.O.C.G. we had the D.O.C.G. pizza which was the best I've ever had. The grilled foie gras was amazing as well.

The service at both places was also top notch.

Who amongst us, has the best pickiest eater story?

My mother's best friend will not eat green peas, raisins, ketchup, yogurt, jams/jellies, or fresh fruit. However, she will eat cherry pie, apple pie and drink grape juice. But, no fresh fruit! She also detests Dr. Pepper. If we go out to eat and I order a Dr. Pepper I have to smell her soft drink before she drinks it to ensure they didn't mess up and give her Dr. Pepper.

Where should we eat in DC in December?

My partner and I are traveling to DC in December to get married.

We're only in town for 48 hours but we'd like to have a really nice dinner for 4 on Saturday to celebrate.

I've seen lots of wonderful recommendations for Komi but I don't think the parents will be willing to try a no menu place.

Any recommendations?

Dinner Tonight: Pasta with Roasted Cauliflower, Chickpeas, and Ricotta

If you've never played around with the possibilities of dry-cooking chickpeas (which is to say, not stewing or pureeing them), I would highly recommend it. Unlike other legumes like beans that don't stand up to high heat, chickpeas have an amazing tendency to turn nutty and crisp in a skillet or when roasted. As it happens, so does cauliflower, which also turns super caramelized and almost meaty. This wonderful intersection is where this recipe is born. More
