ohioben007, I'm a big pop culture fan. Dude, I read ONTD every day! I'm not trying to be all Negative Nancy with the use of pop culture references, and I'm not some kind of uptight Beacon Hill-ite about life. I love poking fun at public figures but we should at least be accurate--or in Jillian's case, more up-to-date. Really, referencing Britney, BSB, Yanni, and Steve Austin? It's 2009! And it's not like I didn't have a laugh--"tenderly stroking a bagel" was hilarious!
I'm sorry I had to come back here and not talk about Top Chef, but I needed to set things straight.

Unlike hamburgerlady, I didn't enjoy your commentary, especially the inane pop culture refrences. Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys are not that dumb, and the piece did not benefit from your biased use of them. I understand that Top Chef is pop culture and your use of celebrity metaphors lighten the mood or help others understand the depth of various cheftestants' actions/reactions, the references seemed distasteful. And I know we're here to talk about food and about the finale, but the references were so distracting I had to comment. And yeah, this is what you do, but please have some respect for Britney and the Backstreet Boys.
Oh, and I'm inclined to believe that Michael won the chefs over when he told them that food has been his life and "all he's ever gotten a paycheck for." That seems like Top Chef material--true devotion.

Last bite on earth: It doesn't matter as long as I don't die hungry or thirsty or from bad food.
I'm on the fence about banning food in the workplace after reading all the comments, but some foods should definitely be banned from dorms (relative to each floor) because my neighbor last year would microwave popcorn five times a week and it would stink up the entire floor from each room to our communal bathroom. But back to the workplace--nothing's banned where I work, but we've each expressed disdain at another's feta or fish sauce or salted fish. I agree with @Cassaendra's comment about food smells being unprofessional in a non-food businessplace.
