The Ultimate Cleanse?

I tried the master cleanse about 3 years back, but only for 4 days (due to some life circumstances) Those 4 days were actually quite helpful, and kickstarted my weightloss and physical activity.
I was fairly sedentary (though I walked to and from work every day, about 1 mile each way) and had some poor eating habits.
After the cleanse, I had more energy, and began going to the gym, and eventually went from (6'2") 230 pounds, to 198... I've slacked off on the gym slightly since then, but maintained most of the eating habits, and currently I'm 210... It's probably not for everyone, but I did find that it helped, even for such a short duration. The energy increase was the biggest benefit I found.

Wow. $5000 bucks for a hamburger. Not to be the "there are starving kids in X", person, but someone who pays $5000 for a hamburger really needs to have something horrid happen to them.

Essentials: Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Delicious. I generally mix up a batch of olive oil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, salt and some red pepper flakes. Then I cut my sprouts in half, and soak them in this dressing. Put them on a pan, roast till they start to caramelize, and then quickly toss in the dressing before serving...

My friends who claim to HATE brussel sprouts with a passion, love these.

I am going to second that comment made about Kobe burgers being a waste of good meat. I must not be a burger fangirl, not to insinuate you aren't, Adam, but I'd rather have a Kobe steak. The one and only time I had a Kobe steak was when I was in Kobe at 5 years of age. I remember walking out of the restaurant with the red napkin and being scolded about that when we got to our hotel. I have no clue how we ended up with the ashtray.

Anyway, ground beef ends up being...ground beef. (*gasp*)

The most I've ever paid for a hamburger was $18 at the Kahala Resort (at the time, Kahala Mandarin) 5-6 years ago -- ground chuck with lettuce and tomato in a standard bun. Nowhere near $5,000. I ordered extra fries for $8. It was a great lunch for the view, atmosphere, service, and the company.

I did the Old Homestead Kobe burger once. I don't think it was the $80 one, though -- it was $41. Totally not worth it. It was a big, honkin' pile of mush. I'm really not a fan of Kobe burgers in general. Waste of good meat.

Hmm, what did that cost. Lunch with friends at Applebees a couple of months ago. I was starving. Blue cheese burger with fries sounded kind of good. Think it was about $10? The best burger ever. It was worth it.

The burger in the photo looks a little too much for me. Why is a simple mushroom so expensive. Ridiculous. And $5000 for a burger in Vegas? Wow. What's THAT made out of?

... okay.. I just read my post... um, let me rephrase a little...

The burger is served on a brioche bun, and not, as I stated, on a brioche bum... that would be a totally different place, and would cost way more.

The $5,000 burger from Fleur de Lys may actually be a bargain! It comes with a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus, which sells for about $6000 to $70000 a bottle. Go figure.

I had the burger at a place called Bymark in Toronto, and it was $37. I have to say, it was fantastic. They grind their own beef, the burger is on a brioche bum. some brie, some truffles, pancetta.. very, very tasty.

in Miami i had a $30 burger at Emril's. might have been in the mid $20's but at that point when you factor in that Florida does that whole adding 18% to the total to include tip, than it might as well have been 30.

DB Bistro burger is damned good. I ordered it expecting to hate it and be irritated. But it was great, and certainly worth the money.
