Are you a serial salt and pepper shaker?

I never add salt to a dish unless I taste it first. But my wife's family does not like black pepper, so they don't cook with it. Since there are a few dishes that I know i like better with a bit of black pepper, like steak or almost any potato dish, I will shake some on pre-first bite.

I use a pressure cooker. From start to end with no soaking I can have bean soup in an hour.

Pickle Spear

I was told that the pickle spear was served as a sort of aperitif. Sort of a cheap method open the palette. I don't remember where i heard that, or if it is true, but I like to see it that way.

Wheat Bread for Sandwiches

As a side note, my resolution last year was to make a new loaf of bread every week. I made it all the way into the heat of July before giving up for a couple months. I bought "The Bread Bible" by Beth Hensperger. It has hundreds of very nice recipes, including a few that I love for sandwiches.

About: I stumbled upon serious eats through A Hamburger Today after reading a review of the Minetta Tavern. And then I was hooked.

Favorite foods: Pizza, Burgers, Pasta with any kind of sauce. A beef stew will always please me as well.

Last bite on earth: Definitely a burger. Lightly toasted potato bun, thin layer of mayo on the bottom. Med rare burger done in the fashion of a slider (but full size,) with the onions pressed in...then drenched in butter. Topped with mushrooms and sharp cheddar.
