Power Dining on Cape Cod: A Day In The Life of a Serious Eats Editor

I'm drooling here. And making a list of places to hit next time I'm down the Cape. Next time you should try Original Seafood in Dennis and stack it up next to Kreme and Kone. Word on the street is the original K&K owner sold the business, hated what they did with it and opened up Original not too far up Rte. 28. We always go to Original. The fried clams and onion rings are amazing, but also, their chowder is one of the best ever.

Best Way to Make Some Freshly Caught Tuna?

oh snap! I'm excited about all the suggestions. We have a ton, so I'm going to make a tartare (Ina Garten's recipe looks like a winner and I already have all the ingredients) and then sear the rest on the grill. It doesn't have any skin, but came out of the ocean yesterday, so I think I'm good to go no matter what. Thanks for all the feedback. Love it!

Best Way to Make Some Freshly Caught Tuna?

Thanks guys! I will ask what part of the fish it's from. It's palatable raw, my man and his friend noshed down on a ton of it last night. He said it's incredible. I'm excited! Love the first method suggested, I was thinking something simple and Asian flavor inspired.

Can I grill it? Will it hold up?

Mixed Review: No Pudge vs. Trader Joe's Fat Free Brownies

No Pudge are good ONLY the night you make them. The next day they turn into glue. But they totally hit the spot if you're brownie hankering but you don't want to consume an extra 800 calories on a week night.

@dashofginger is right! The best thing about NPs is that you can fire up one single brownie to hit your sweet tooth.

In-N-Out vs. Five Guys vs. Shake Shack: The First Bi-Coastal Side-By-Side Taste Test

My boyfriend and I have been having a Five Guys v. In-N-Out debate since last month, when he first tried INO for the first time. My largest argument in favor of INO-which he could not dispute- was that it was not only good, but the cheapest. If you buy Five Guys for a family of 5 you spend $50.00. That's not cool.

Easter Appetizer Ideas

Thanks KarmaFree...all great ideas. I'm intrigued by the asparagus sandwiches and the tart! I think I might make a spring vegetable bruschetta of sorts. I found a great looking one on Food and Wine. But I will be bookmarking all these ideas and links!

Easter Appetizer Ideas

Whoa thanks guys! All amazing and great suggestions. Especially the Funyons. Who doesn't like those? I was feeling something asparagus-ey...since it is spring and all. I so appreciate all the suggestions. Past hits have included but are not limited to: caramelized onion tart, red pepper hummus, pickled cherry tomatoes, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, a straight up cheese and crackers spread, etc. I'm going to take these suggestions and run with em. I'm super intrigued by the asparagus sandwiches, or maybe a bruscetta of some sort. Much love for the help!

Help! Need (food) recipe to impress date

Super simple if you would like to stick with seafood: prosciutto wrapped cod. Only takes about 10 minutes of hands on time. You could roast some asparagus while preparing the cod, make a nice salad that's waiting in the fridge before she gets there. That way she gets the effect of seeing you with a spatula in your hand but you're not chopping or stressing the whole time.

Regional Chain Restaurants

Word up to Bertuccis. It's hands down the best chain around. Also, D'Angelo can be good, maybe I'm alone on this but I like Papa Ginos, and we also have a regional (maybe MA only) chain called Not Your Average Joe's that is very good.

In-N-Out's Double-Double, Animal Style

@kenji...thanks! I'm pretty pumped to try this out. Now I'll just need to install a fryolater in my kitchen and make a couple Neopolitan shakes.

From Recipes

In-N-Out's Double-Double, Animal Style

am I missing something? Where do we add the mustard? The link on this week's recipes said to "fry the burgers in mustard" but I'm not seeing that step here.

If I can bring the sweet, sweet flavor of In-N-Out to my Boston kitchen I may weep with joy.

Pizzeria Names All Menu Items After Ryan Adams Songs

That pizza place better be careful and not accidentally/jokingly name one of their pies "Summer of 69" because Ryan Adams will have the house lights turned up, stop his live performance, and have them tossed out on the street for even insinuating that his name rhymes with Bryan Adams. Just like I saw him do at the Paradise in Boston once when someone made that joke. What a brat. That man deserves no pizzas named after him!

Leftover cooked pasta

Make pan fried noodles. Like at a Chinese food restaurant. Just heat some oil in a nonstick pan and fry the noddles in a "nest" until they are crispy. Flip and repeat on the other side. So good!

Poll: How Do You Top Your Pancakes?

This is kind of sick, but I butter and syrup em and then I sprinkle granulated sugar on top. Something that just stuck around since I was little I guess. Luckily I don't really eat pancakes that often, otherwise my teeth would be falling out.

yo I have been eyeing this recipe since peeping it a while back...so much so that there are two (unpeeled, mind you) bananas sitting in my freezer right now. Thanks for the heads up, I can just picture myself wrassling those frozen skins and cursing later on. The more you know, the more you know.

Your childhood favorites: Are they still guilty pleasures?

Chef Boyardee's Beefaroni, Mama Celeste Pizzas, Hungry Man Fried Chicken Dinner, frozen chicken pot pie, Micro Magic fries, Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

We weren't really allowed any of this junk, so when we had it, I was super stoked. I'm sure many of those would not stand the test of time (i.e. micro magic) but I would still get down with a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch or a Mama Celeste (if I was drunk).

What Are the Must-Eats in Your City?

In Boston, in the summer, every visitor to our family gets taken to the Hingham Lobster Pound. Best fried clams and scallops ev-er. For pizza, I do love the original Regina's in the North End. But the line is usually bananas, so you have to go at odd hours. Like noon on a Sunday. Or on the coldest day of the year.
