Must eats in New Orleans??

Thank you everyone for the amazing recommendations!! I just got back from my trip and had an awesome and absolutely DELICIOUS trip.. it was hard to go wrong with food! As an update, I took everyone's advice and went to Cochon. It was awesome!! Brennan's for the famous Bananas Foster, Cafe du Monde (at least once a day!), Acme, and a few other hole in the wall places off the beaten path. I can't explain how perfect the trip was! Everyone I met was so passionate about the food and I cannot wait to return.. I'm hooked!! :D

What's the story behind your SE screen name?

One thing most people assume with my name is that I'm a huge fan of the band (Phish), but I actually came up with this back when I was about 15 years old and had no clue who the band was. It came from my love for two things: marine biology and food- especially ice cream (Ben & Jerry's, anyone?). The 21 is just a number that has stuck with me for a while for no particular reason.

Roberto's right off of PCH in Leucadia. Same routine my whole life: catch some sun and waves on Ponto Beach, then walk right up for a burrito. Some of the best memories of my life. Too bad I'm up in NorCal for school... I'm gunna have a CRAZY craving, now!! :[

L&L Hawaiian BBQ. Can't beat the shortribs and macaroni salad!! Or even a spam musubi as a quick snack. If not, I'd opt for almost any Mongolian BBQ the mall has to offer.

Food Network's New Offerings

Man.. FN was what originally propelled me to become the food science/culinary major that I am now. It's kinda depressing to see where it's ended up today. I would sit here and rant about what it should and shouldn't be, but I'd just be restating things that have been said already (nikonratm, hameshahungry, drjekyl1, old chef, Kent McDonald to name some good ones). Food network has changed focus from food to personality. I want food!! -_-

Worst cooking experience ever?

When I was about seven, I was making rice krispie treats with my grandma. She had to step out of the kitchen for a few minutes, so I thought I'd surprise her by going a step further on my own. I started mixing the marshmallows and rice krispies in a glass bowl over the stove. Of course, about a minute later, the glass bowl exploded and shattered everywhere and you can only imagine the lovely (very sticky) mess my grandma came back to. Haha.
