Adam, this series of posts has really been great to read. Thank you. I'm Paula's webmaster and I'm going to make sure she gets a peek at the posts, and especially at the comments. For all of you that are wondering, yes Paula really cooks that way and yes, here in the south we really do occasionally eat that way.

I have to say I LOVE burgers, all kinds of burgers. Cheese, chicken, turkey, pizza, anything! Burgers with onion rings, burgers with bacon, even burgers with mash potatoes like the new one at BK! But this is not a burger. A DONUT? A FRIED EGG? That is disgusting, especially the donut part. Theres some foods you dont mix and this is the best example of that.
That is one is the most disgusting things i've seen in a while. The mere fact this woman has a television show, and that people are actually salivating over this garbage, is living testament to the state of American health.

It's all so grotesque. I don't watch her show - she just seems oddly phony, something that can come from seeming, or being just "too" southern. Her accents seems awfully thick, as if she ever left her home town, ever. It's fine that she's got a southern accent but most of my friends from the south just don't layer it on that thickly.
The "meal" isn't a meal, and isn't exactly cooking. A year from now, I expect to see it in the freezer case when they "brand' her crap and sell it as a frozen breakfast "treat". Doughnut sandwiches. Dear gods.

Shouldn't it get dipped again in an egg wash and in panko, and then deep fried. Afterwards, drizzle with molten cheddar when plating..
That sounds like a Paula Deen recipe!
It's been a whole lot of fun reading these comments. I too have heard of making bread pudding with donuts and it was a Southern recipe. Oh well, nothing succeeds like excess.....
Only in America do people have the opportunity to work hard and make a success of themselves as PD has done. I don't know anyone who takes her cooking and/or her over the top recipes seriously. She's Burlesque in the finest sense of the term and her large audience appreciates her as much for her acting skills as they do her knife skills.
